My opinion on Mayweather has changed...

ive been roaming these boards for a while now and have been too lazy to start an account til now. Im a huuuuugee Pacman fan and will honestly admit that i love watching manny fight and always thought mayweather padded his record by fighting smaller fighters and hand picking his fights.

After i watched Mayweather/Mosely i have a newfound respect for mayweather. Sure most people dont like him b/c of his attitude on 24/7 and how ****y he is which is COMPLETELY understandable but the kid has proven he is a gym rat and truely is a legend and his dedication is unmatched. I thought Mosely would be the bigger fighter and bully him around like he deserves.

Seeing him coming in being the bigger fighter and overcoming his second round scare only to outclass a future hall of famer like shane mosely is unbelievable. Most people didnt enjoy it bc it was "boring" but coming from a MMA fan ( ive watched UFC since day one and was into MMA before boxing) i thought he put on boxing clinic and i really enjoyed it.

I think a lot of people who call Floyd a ducker only started paying attention to him at 140 and 147. At 140 his competition was fairly weak, and Judah/Baldomir aren't very highly regarded now (though they were ranked at the top of the division when Floyd was fighting them). However, when he was just starting out at 130, Floyd was calling out all the big names, fighting quite a few of them, and completely destroying every opponent he fought at 130 or 135 except Castillo (and after Castillo gave Floyd the toughest fight of his career, Floyd gave him an immediate rematch). Floyd is probably the GOAT at 130 lbs (unless there was some really great 130 lbs champion the I am forgetting about).

All told Floyd has fought 15 opponents who were good enough to win a major title, 9 of whom were able to win a lineal title, and 8 opponents with a decent shot of being inducted into the Hall of Fame (Genaro Hernandez, Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo(who he fought twice), Arturo Gatti, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley). Now, a few of those guys were past prime and Gatti's chances of making the HoF have more to do with popularity than skill, but Hernandez was an unbeaten champion at 130 (his only other loss coming when he moved up in weight to challenge De La Hoya), Corrales was clearly prime and unbeaten, Castillo was clearly prime, Hatton was at least close to prime and unbeaten. Oscar had a significant weight advantage, Marquez was smaller but ranked #2 P4P, Mosley was 38 but ranked #3 P4P and coming off one of his best wins. That is a very good resume and not the resume of a ducker.
