it not pointless if floyd grabs the title at 160 lbs from martinez. better to fight martinez for it than to fight pavlik or someone really big.

I said time n time again that Shane is Floyd's toughest test at 147 but Floyd will dominate him n beat him down like he did altho I was surpised at the way n the ease that he did it. I also said b4 that fight that I think Manny might give more an effort than Shane cuz he's faster n younger but he'll take more punishment n wont go into survival mode like Shane which will only get him KO'd. I said Martinez is the only guy from 140-160 that has a chance at beating Floyd and its the fight I wanted to see after Martinez proved himself agaisnt Pavlik n Paul. He's the best MW since Hopkins, stylistically he gives Floyd problems n he's a smart fast strong talented boxer, I think I'd actually go with Martinez in that fight but I want to see it non the less, it makes perfect sense for Floyd to go to 160 n become the lineal MW champ after all he's accomplished already, even tho he doesnt really need to

Martinez is one of few boxers out there that I feel has a good shot at beatting floyd. Maybe that's why Floyd won't fight him...

I would still prefer P-Will to fight Phony Boy, but, if it has to be Sergio against Phony that ain't a bad matchup either, they're closer in size.

Man, I'm leanin' towards Sergio, but, he might choke under the big lights of Vegas. He's bigger, agile, elusive, more importantly, a counter-punching southpaw, so I wouldn't expect him to chase Phony Boy around.

isn't martinez everything that floyd hates in his opponents? tough great fighter that would be a 50/50 fight but not a money draw... No way Floyd steps up and fights martinez!!! Major props if he does though...

IMO this is only a good/"fair" fight if it's at a catchweight below 154 lbs, say around 150-152. That's just giving up too much for Floyd to a very good and game (quick southpaw) fighter in Martinez. If I recall Floyd couldn't even make 154 against De La Hoya. Wasn't he like 150lbs at weigh in for that fight?

yeah but the 160 lbs title will still be on the line (if floyd pays for it)
