Margarito honored by WBO! Wants DLH, Cotto!

    Margarito honored by WBO!
    By Gerardo M. Avila-Planas
Mexican WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (32-4, 23 Ko's), who is visiting the island of Puerto Rico, received a special recognition Wednesday from the hands of WBO representative Mario Rivera-Martino at the Sanchez vs. Cazares press conference. Margarito, who in his last outing annihilated previously unbeaten welterweight prospect Kermit "The Killer" Cintron, took the opportunity to call out Oscar De La Hoya and Miguel Cotto. "I hear Cotto wants De La Hoya and I want him too," declared Margarito, "If he (De La Hoya) comes down to 147 like he says he will, I'd like an opportunity to face him. And if Cotto is considering moving up then I have no problem with fighting an elimination bout where the winner gets De La Hoya." The WBO however revealed that a fight between Margarito and WBA/WBC/IBF champion Zab Judah is more than likely to get on the works.

I would like to see that, you'd think he should move up for the money, or stay at 140?

Ok, who from 140-160 HASN'T called out De La Hoya?

There is a laundry list of guys who've done that or fought him already...the goals for these guys isn't title belts, it's a date with the Golden Boy.

    140
Tszyu has been clamoring for years for DLH
    PBF--likewise
    Cotto--Saturday night called him out
    Gatti--already fought and was destroyed

    147
    Judah--wants DLH now
    Margarito--read above
Mosley--has an unhealthy obsession with DLH

    154
    Winky--for years...

    160
    Hopkins--happened
    Sturm--you know why...

What next? Tarver-Johnson II winner calls out Golden Boy!

    I love this sport!

The only reason guys are calling out DLH is because they know he will bring them big $$$ and they think he's too old to put up much of a fight. I wish they'd stop pretending it's because they're real warriors or something.

It think this would be the best match up I feel that Margarito might be just a little too much for Judah, im not a big Judah fan, but he has a weak jaw and we all know what happend when he faced a big puncher like Zoo, and i dont think that Margarito has the punch to makes his legs wigle

I posted an article in here a while back.
It was a 2003 article when Margarito was calling out all the names in the sport. This is not news to me, Margarito wants to fight the names so he can make one for himself.
Cotto please dont take this fight, your not ready.
Im getting the feeling DLH will never make it safely back to 147, I saw him at the Hopkins-Taylor press con. and he looked fatter than ever.
The fight I have been praying for is Margarto-Judah unification bout. Then Cotto should try and fight at 147 just to see how he turns out then go after the undisputed welter weight champion.
Things ae starting to look good! Finally we talk about real fights again.

              hmm

Man...Margy vs Cotto would be an ugly mess. It'd be over quicke rthan the Cintron fight. Cotto has NO advantage over Margy, only several big disadvantages.

Margarito - Judah would be the talk of the town around here...I really hope it happens.

Your right brown bomber Cotto isnt ready yet to face a credible fighter like Margarito at all.

It isnt just that he is going up to a higher weight where guys like Margarito are way stronger than the guys at 140.
He needs to take a tune up at 147 before he can know where he is at in 147.Margarito isnt the type of guy who is gonna raise his hand when his eye is swollen. If anything he will come at you harder. I think Margarito is the strongest guy at 147.
