True Story. Paul Williams needs to go to 168lbs

He needs to focus on getting stronger with that lanky frame and making fights with the fighters coming out of the super 6 if he wants to be a household name.

Picking on the smaller men at 147 won't earn him respect and he wont make any money at 154 or 160 because there aren't any stars in those divisions anymore. He's not getting any younger and time waits on no man.

I believe he can outwork just about everyone at 168lbs and become a P4P legend. He should start by chasing Pavlik up the scale. Eventually he could even get Chad Dawson to come down to face him. Lots of money is gonna be made from 168-175 in the near future.

I agree with u about him not getting too much respect/credit at 147 because of his physical advantage but I don't think he would do well above 160. In my personal opinion, he should stay at 154/160, he should rematch Martinez, a fight that now will generate a lot more interest due to Martinez victory over Pavlik.
Also, the Jr.Middleweight division looks very interesting right now and he seems to e the leader of the group there, he might fight the Cotto/Foreman winner, Angulo or Margarito again.

With Showtime throwing so much money behind promoting the Super 6, new stars and reputations are being created. If he's able to get a fight with any of those who make it to the finals and get a win, which I believe he can with his solid chin and workrate he'll elevate his reputation even more. I honestly feel he isnt suited for 147-154. He should definitely fight Sergio Martinez again and win or lose move up and challenge himself against naturally bigger men. Thats what he's been asking Pac, Mayweather, and Mosley to do against himself.

I really think P.Will is short changing his money making potential. nobody at Welterweight is lookin to fight a 6,2 southpaw who throws that many punches. I do believe Mayweather would school him if he's dumb enough to drain himself to make 147 again.

No way, man. 168 is way too high for him. Even 160 is high for him.

His ideal fighting weight is at 154. With Cotto, Angulo, Foreman, Kirkland and others coming up in the division, he can make his name there.

If Williams can be sucessful at 168, I'd gain a lot more respect for him. Right now all he has proven is that he can make weight.

I disagree completely. That would be career mismanagement IMO. He needs to stay at 154 and establish himself as the undisputed man to beat and then slowly let his large frame gain weight to 160 and 168.

Goosen says that Williams can still fight at WW which I think would be unneccesary and unwise.

Williams will be 30 years old next year. He turned pro at Middleweight back in 2000 according to boxrec.com. He's being mismanaged now imo. They need to stop starving him while waiting on these smaller stars to face him. He can really stand to move up now. He was talking about doing it last year anyway when he was challenging Hopkins.
