How good was Julio Ceasar Chaves?

Best ever? What was his best weight class?
I remember watching this guy thinking he would never lose. Yes a lot of his wins were in Mexico against no names. But man was he good.

What are your thoughts on him?

Actually, I was wondering the same thing. What was his best weight class? I idolized him when I was a kid but I wasn't that aware of who his opponents are. I didn't give a ****, I just wanted him to beat somebody. Unfortunately, I think his fights that people will remember the most are the ones he really lost. Against Whitaker, Taylor, Tszyu and Dela Hoya. (Don't even argue that he didn't lose against Sweet Pea and Meldrick).

JCC was great in his prime, he was good later on as most people remember him because de didnt reach the stardom till near the downside of his career.

He was the kind of fighter that was offensive but u could see was focused and always thinking. Great timing, and just plain smart. He wasnt a one punch knockout artist but he was great offensively in that he was heavy handed enough to do damage, and damage he did. Placing most of his shots in specific areas to inflict damage.

You could see him often work his gameplan he would start trying to time his opponent like say Roger mayweather... he would time his jab and come over it with a lead right. and he'd switch it up on his opponents, when they were expecting a right he would lead with the left etc. Although he hardly gets credit for it he would sometimes come back with a straight left after a right. (not a jab)

Inside he would constantly switch his hands to block most uppercuts and hooks. When he would get hit he was so focused he knew it was coming cus he knew where he went wrong.

Basically what im trying to get at was that he was a Greatly skilled offensive fighter.

Oh yeah his prime was really at 130 - 135 i feel because he was physically at his best there. He was in great shape at the beginning of 140 but then he stopped training and he just got bulky from his upper body.
