He's only 19, he is obviously not ready to fight a real WW yet. You expect this guy to go out and start taking big fights already? I mean he stepped up to the plate last night and done really well. A few more years this kid is going to be a real force, he is no joke.

I was very impressed with his punch variety, speed and counter punching, however a few issues i saw which need to be ironed out are, he likes to maintain distance at all! times, meaning when attacked he goes straight back, he is also fighting far too square when he backs up, kinda reminds me of Cotto in that sense, i think that is leaving him open defensively when he backs up.

He looked really good last night despite the whole gettin' rocked thing.

During that fight I was thinking to myself: I wonder if this is how the Mayweather-Mosley fight's gonna be, Canelo having trouble early and then basically teeing off by the end. Anyways, great showing by the up and comer.

Canelo is huge for a welter. If he stays there and gets a title this guy could be a multi-division champ. I can see him at middleweight someday.

He will have to move up eventually, he is not really a grown man yet even and has a few years to physically develop.

Good performance last night, thought there was no need to stop the fight against Cotto but its not Alvarez's fault.

33 pro fights at 19, pretty impressive.

He's not the quickest though and could've been KO'd. His comeback was impressive. Strong kid.

It's hard not to be impressed. He's 19 for Pete's sake! That's scary. I thought he showed something special today. Many fighters would have lost their composure after getting hurt like that, but he never let it phase him and soon proved he could dominate, out box and out power the older guy. Big props, he has a good future.

On a side note - 30+ fights for a 19 year old is just crazy.

He made me a fan! He's got alot to learn though, and he needs more coordination, strength, but that'll come with age!
