Shane Mosley's "Better" is Better than Floyd Mayweathr's "Better"

Let's get this straight though. Floyd Mayweather is "better" than Shane Mosley.

But, in boxing, if you get a guy who's better than another guy, if that other guy is better more times in a fight than his better opponent, the supposed lesser fighter wins the fight. A good example of this is Manny Pacquiao against a guy like Josh Clottey. The most memorable moments of this fight were punches landed by Clottey, but Pacquiao was simply better- about 300 times more.

Tommy Hearns was "better" than Ray Leonard. Look at the early rounds. However, Ray Leonard made the decision that he would take more chances at being "better" than would Hearns. Joe Calzaghe did this against Hopkins. Cotto against Clottey. Mosley against De La Hoya.

Floyd Mayweather's never shown the ability to be better than what he can do. Most of his fights, he's just won by technical and strategical outmaneuvering. But against Shane Mosley, he's gonna have to dig down much deeper than anything he's reached for. He's gonna have to be a dragon. He's gonna have to throw more punches than he ever has. He's gonna have to show more movement than he's ever had. He's gonna have to throw the jab when it's a risk to do so.

I expect Mosley to win, but if Mayweather show's something he's never done before, I can see Mayweather pulling it off.

Not a bad analysis. I could disagree on the premise but I respect it. This should be a fantastic bout.

Mosley can take it to another level. Show me when Mayweather ever has done that? I mean, Jones took it to another level against Tarver the first time. Mosley took it to another level against De La Hoya. Where has Mayweather???

Castillo maybe? Hatton and Judah even. Both fighters in different ways made Floyd have to step his game up more. The thing is how can you criticise a guy for being so good that he wins naturally? It wouldn't really mean much if he hasn't HAD to step it up, but I believe he did when he had to bite the bullet with his injury vs Castillo and stand in the pocket with a great inside fighter.
