Comments Thread For: CompuBox Analysis: Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley

By CompuBox - When the Pacquiao-Mayweather superfight fell through, the pressure was on “Money” to find a suitable – and marketable – substitute. Long criticized for avoiding risk, fans were pleasantly surprised when Mayweather signed to face WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley, who showed strength and speed in spectacularly stopping Antonio Margarito in nine rounds. Because of that performance, Mosley was seen as the second biggest threat to Mayweather’s treasured undefeated record. Mayweather’s a 4-1 favorite.

This was a match that could have been made in 1999 when Mosley was IBF lightweight champion and Mayweather was the WBC super lightweight king and the reigning Fighter of the Year. Given the styles and personalities, this may well be a case of better late than never. [Click Here To Read More]

Floyd Mayweather UD 12 Shane Mosley: I see Mayweather playing it safe by creating distance throughout the fight, picking his spots, and winning a 12-round unanimous decision.

Mosley will have his moments, but I don't think he's fast enough to prevent Mayweather from using his his legs.
    Smart pick

Mayweather will win this fight. And haters will find an excuse to justify their pain. Hopefully Pacquiao will accept being the next opponant.

if it goes past ten I'd predict Mayweather , before 9 Sahne could put him down ! It's the age vs the track star .

I believed that floyd's accurate head punching ability will make a lot of difference, whether its a counter or offense. Mosley's wild hook punches wont work against a very cautious Floyd. thats why i dont see possibilty of knockout in favor of shane.

I have never paid any attention to Compubox reports before, but this is a great unbiased analysis.

i just want to see how mayweather fight a guy who is fast, probably stronger, got as much experience and also fight smart. the corner also will be a factor as i give the advantage to mosley's corner against mayweather's uncle and father combined. mayweather probably has more talent and more gifted fighter but i give mosley an equal chance because of other factors. mosley by a win and mayweather calling for immediate rematch...

I think this is the correct pick, but does anyone know compubox's record on fight predictions?

I appreciate that. Numbers can sometimes tell a story but the fighters are the ones who prove or disprove.

There was a point where we were something like 15-2 over a 17-fight period but that percentage has gone down a bit. We still hit far more than we miss but that level of success was absolutely ridiculous.

Like I said before, we can only use the numbers to predict a certain outcome but it's the fighters and the intangibles that end up having the final say.
