just because a person can't do somethin doesn't mean he/she doesn't understand what is needed to be done in order to win

Some guys can become trainers just by watching or being taught by other trainers. There boxing experience doesn't always translate to a good trainer.

If Freddie Roach taught every fighter to fight the way he fought then he most likely wouldn't have had as much success.

Some guys don't even need to be proper boxing fans Enzo Calzaghe while not the best trainer ever managed to turn average fighters into decent ones in Rees, Macca etc. And he managed to train Calzaghe into a P4P fighter (regardless of what you think of him) So its proves somewhat that you don't always need a experienced boxer. Ofcourse, this is the exception that proves the rule, most trainers with no boxing experience would fall flat on their face.

Maybe no professional experience but have a small amateur background and train for boxing.
