  • Why did Zoo never have a rematch with Phillips then?

A blot on his otherwise flawless career (pre-Hatton), I note that no steps were ever taken towards amending this.

I'm not stirring it, suggesting anything or looking for a row about Zoo's heart or lack thereof - I'm just asking the question.

So what's the word on the street?

i think it might be that one fighter was dodging the other, im not sure which.

It is a valid question, at least for a year or two after the fight...after that Phillips really began to age and there was little need for a rematch but your point is well taken that in the immediate aftermath of that fight a rematch should have been a priority of Zoo.

i think that by the time zoo rebounded from the lost with a couple of wins, phillips lost the belt and never returned to the top again..

other fighters have not avenged their losses and still went on to be p4p kings.... terry norris never got back at julian jackson

I think that by the time Tszyu was recovered from the loss, Philips was falling down the ladder, so a rematch was pointless. I think he should definently go for a rematch with Hatton, on neutral ground. Las Vegas anyone?

I think you are right on!

As for Norris and Jackson I think Terry was well advised to stay away from the hawk, if they had fought again it would have benn similiar results. Norris was not going to outbox Jackson in a second fight like he did with Simon Brown.

Norris vs. Jackson...a classic fight with big punchers that had absolutely no chins.
