    Hozumi was robbed.

I didn't catch the fight early this morning so I go and watched it a few minutes ago. When I read the results, I thought Hozumi was just out-classed, thought he was put out on his feet and I really couldn't think anything about it. With the way the article made it sound, I really couldn't argue anything for him, I thought he just straight up loss.

Then I watch the damn video and he gets caught with a left hook and gets sent back into the ropes and with 1 second left, the ref stops it. What the fuck is that?

C'mon, we all seen worse, we all seen times when dudes should have been stopped but the ref let it go. But how does anyone merit a stoppage with 1 second left? Has anyone seen Whitaker-Hurtado? Like Honestly.

I ain't gonna lie. Hozumi was hurt and had one arm stuck in the ropes. But it was literally 1 second left and Hozumi wasn't getting all that badly rocked around. I think the first punch after Hozumi was hit was flush and the others kinda grazed off him.

It's a title fight as well, as a referee you have to think about that too. You don't let a title fight end with 1 second left, you have to kinda just let it ride. How many punches is Montiel getting off in 1 second? 2? It wasn't like Hozumi was a ragdoll on the ropes either.

Something that could have been great ended with bull****. What would have been if Gatti-Ward was called a stop with 1 second left? See what I mean?

I don't want to take anything away from Montiel's win but in all honesty you can't stop a title fight with 1 second left. Hozumi wasn't even getting Froch-Taylor'd on the ropes.

It sucks but I hope Montiel gives Hozumi his rematch because that call was bull****.

Hasegawa's wasn't defending himself. His arm was holding onto the ropes and the other was just down. Good stoppage. No robbery, i don't like ref Cole but he did the right thing.

      JK .

The stoppage was correct, You seriously like fighters taking that much damage against the ropes? Don't get mad that your fighter got caught and lost because of it. There will be a rematch of course, But now it's time that it happens in Montiels backyard and not hozumis. Like it or not, Hozumi is just a backyard champ a la Bute.

Give credit where credit is due and give some props to Montiel for going to Japan and taking out the champ.

It was a good stoppage Flicker bro.

Remember what every ref tells you before the opening bell

            "Protect yourself AT ALL TIMES".

The refs job isn't to play time keeper. He can only judge the fight as it is going on, and as it was Hozumi was getting rocked, and wasn't even attempting to defend himself

I don't care if Hozumi wasn't defending himself. One arm was hooked on the ropes and he wasn't even getting hit clean.

The first uppercut after Hozumi hit the ropes was the only clean punch in that whole flurry. After that uppercut, everything either grazed him or was a straight up miss.

How many punches is Montiel really gonna get off in 1 second? At the rate he was going, he would miss the only 2 that he could possibly throw in the second.

Hozumi was robbed of a great fight. You don't stop title fights with 1 second left. How do we know Hozumi wouldn't have made a comeback? What could have been a great fight, which could have went back and forth was abruptly stopped with 1 second left on the clock.

It's not even Hozumi losing that I make this thread. It's that the fight was stopped with literally 1 second left. What kinda bull**** is that?

Well first off Cole is not a very good ref, but put yourself in his situation when he sees a guy with both hand down seeming out on his feet taking 3 or 4 heavy shots.
Had Hozumi gone down maybe he could have reassessed the situation in regards to the time left in the round, however considering it happened all so fast and the state Hozumi looked in you can't really but to much blame on him.

That was a damn MMA stoppage.

Throwing 10 really fast grazing punches don't warrant a stoppage in boxing. that **** may fly in MMA but not boxing.

You mad because Hozumi stopped protecting himself.

Now you're being an ignorant prick because you can't admit that Montiel was the one who made the comeback and caught Hozumi slipping.

Stop trying to ruin Montiels great win, He deserves damm well to be the champ.
