You do realize that going into the Mayweather fight that Carlos Baldomir had not lost in almost a decade? He wasn't some bum off the street. The guy had an iron chin and much faster hand speed than Antonio Margarito.

He's honestly, imo, a better fighter than Margarito.

People wanted to critizcize Floyd for not ko'ing Baldo, but all that got shut down when Vernon Forest couldn't ko Baldo... at 154.

De La Hoya - #1 ranked WBC LMW champion. Coming off a KO win over Mayorga at his proper weight. 20lb weight advantage over Floyd.

Ricky Hatton - #1 ranked Lineal LWW champion, on the p4p list, undefeated.

JM Marquez - #1 ranked Lineal LW champion, p4p2 (or p4p1 as most felt be beat Pacquaio) - coming off two KO wins over opponents who previously were never KO'd.

Shane Mosley - #1 ranked WW Champion, p4p3. Coming off two brutal KO wins at 154 and 147 against the previous #1 WW.

      Next up:

      Manny Pacquaio!
JMM would be legit if it was at 135! but 147! c'mon man!

        Errr.... I have no idea.

Anyway, if you are suggesting that at 147 lbs Ricky Hatton is a harder fight thatn the Cotto that turned up against Mosely/Gomez/Margarito I just despair.

Cotto looked incredible in those fights... he would have devastated Hatton in 3.

Fact is. Floyd knew it was an easy nights work for a cool $20M+.
when i said equal i was referring to status cotto has always been the better fighter no argument there.

but they both were popular and ricky had beat collazo at 147,but i'll agree with anyone if they say floyd should have fought cotto before an after ricky.

If you remember, Steward criticized Floyd for not knocking out Baldomir. He said, "SRR would have, he KO'd Lamotta who was much bigger than himself just like Baldomir is much bigger than Floyd".

Steward shows his ignorance. SRR, a KO king with devastating power - was not able to KO Lamatta 4 out of 5 fights when he was in his prime. He only knocked him out in the final match in the 13th round after hitting him with everything he had. I'm not saying Baldomir has the grade of iron in his chin that Lamotta had, but we'd all be fooling ourselves if we said Mayweather had the power of SRR either. Therefore, the comparison that Steward made was completely ignorant and no one should ever fault Mayweather for simply outboxing a man who's "unknockoutable".

              Was a tuneup.

I have a question for you, was Floyd vs Oscar legit? There was a bigger weight disparity between them than with JMM and Floyd. Only, it was not in Floyd's favor which is why it's never mentioned here.

JMM was 141 against Pacqauio (145)

JMM was 146 vs Mayweather (149)

              In comparison:

Mayweather was 148 vs Oscar (167)

Yes, Baldomir was very solid and he was a champion, but I never thought he was that good. Floyd was classes above of him and it showed. I think Floyd-Margarito would have been a better fight. Physically bigger & stronger opponent, with good body punching technique and offensive output. I think Floyd would UD him as well though.

JM Marquez was #1 ranked LW but had no buisness at WW
