    Serious Tyson thread

Here are some thoughts on the man of the moment:

Tyson should not be in the hall of fame.
His actual reign was very short and based on myth. He couldn't do what HOF fighters do and that is fight.
He was the dirtiest fighter of recent memory. Hitting fighters when they were down and on the break. Knocking a ref down who was trying to stop a fight. Trying to break Holyfield's, Botha's and McBride's arms. Headbutting and earbiting as well.
Although boxing has had some really de****able fighters, Tyson's tirade at press conferences, weigh in's and during interviews make all other pale in comparison.
He quit just because he didn't want to fight. Quitters have no place in the HOF. If Holy or Lewis would have done the same, people would be screaming for the purse to be withheld and sanctions imposed against them. But since mike did it, it's ok.

Not related to the Hall of Fame, but important non the less.
Tyson power is not it's cracked up to be. Power is the last thing to leave a fighter but there he was ****ing away on McBride with all the thunder of a 6yr old ****ing on a toy drum. Nothing, nada. Foreman won the title at 45 with ONE punch that opened up a 27 stitch cut in Moorer's mouth. Tyson is forever banished from any further "Hardest hitters" debate.

Tyson quit becasue he was tired and thought he was going to lose. A 45yr old Foreman was in a significantly more up tempo fight with Moorer. I guess he should have quit after the 9th round. He didn't and history was made. How is it that Foreman had more stamina than Tyson?

Tyson's intentional fouling of McBride was the most disgraceful thing in boxing in a long time. McBride is just a journeyman trying make a living. Win, lose or draw he is going to have to continue to fight to make a living. So Tyson tries to break his arm which could have ended his career. Who the **** is Mike Tyson to that? A complete disgrace to the sport and humanity.

Why couldn't the Tyson camp come up with an opponent that he could beat? Heck Floyd Patterson is still available. They could have billed it as the battle of Cus's students and charged $59.95. Really, is Mike that bad that they couldn't fight someone, anyone that would fold?

It goes on and on. Mike is a punk and bum that will be remembered as a wart on the ass of boxing.

I agree that Tyson was somewhat overrated, but show some ****ing respect please. He was THE MAN in his time and that is what matters. He's had a long career, let's not drum it all up to his most recent fights. Also...Tyson WILL be in the Hall of Fame. There are many fighters in the hall that are nothing compared to Tyson.

If Norris is in the hall of fame, as well as Bobby Chacon, Tyson will be in the hall of fame.As well as my favorite heavyweight and undisputed at his time, Lennox Lewis.
