Recently there's been a lot of talk about Shane's power and how Floyd has never faced anyone with that kind of power however one should not confuse the ability to throw a powerful punch and having good punching technique. You can have all the power you want but if you aren't punching in a correct way you leave yourself open to a whole host of problems.

You can vary the power in your punches by changing the arc of your arm or fist and by how much you turn your body. A wide arc leaves you exposed for straight punches. Turn your body that little bit extra with your punch and you're off balance and wide open for numerous counters.

I hate to use MMA as an example but it's one that springs to mind, case in point Chuck Lidell, serious power in both hands, but look at the way he punched, his extra power came from a very wide and unusual arc with his arm and fist. But as soon as he faced somebody with relatively good punching technique the myth was very brutally exposed. This is a very blatant example of the theory. Mayweather Mosley will highlight it in a more subtle fashion.

Shane has great power, he gets great torque on his punches. But by adding this extra torque he sacrifices technique, his hooks are slightly wider and there is extra body movement in his punches. Floyd's game is built around reading and counteracting his opponent (bet you never heard that before) but more importantly Floyd throws fast accurate punches in a way that he can move or cover up instantly.

I agree that Shane can't win by his punching power alone. Shane's jab is not the greatest, but its fast and he has longer arms than Floyd. I think Shane can work off his jab in this fight. He would have to keep moving side to side in order to get inside on floyd and try to rough him up on the inside.

Also, shane can switch it up and lay back, letting/making Floyd come to him. Straight rights and one twos are big for floyd if he's on the offensive, shane has a very fast straight right that he does not throw wide and if floyd is coming at him, the straight right hook comes into play for shane.
