clottey is not an UNKNOWN. people know who he is. pac only getting 700k buys reflects only one thing. only 700k people were interested in watching his fight. the the other 500+k people didnt care.

This is total bull****. The haters on this site and boxing writers are constantly making this ridiculous statement that people pay money to see people lose. People don't pay $60 to see a fighter get his ass whipped. They pay that to see a great fight between great fighters. People didn't pay $55 to see Clottey get his ass whipped by Pacquaio. They paid to see a competitive fight between good opponents. If people didn't think Clottey had a chance of beating Pacquaio, there would have been about 100,000 buys, not 700,000 buys. Only 150,000 people paid to watch Jones/Hopkins II. That was because both of them are past their prime and the fight wasn't worth the price of the ticket. If that fight had taken place after the first Jones/Tarver or after the Jones/Ruiz fight, it would have sold 500,000 on PPV.

People can watch it on the replay the following week or on youtube if they want to see a fighter get his ass whipped. No one, except the idiots on this site, apparently, would be ****** enough to waste $60 to see a man lose. I thought both Hatton and Cotto would kick Pacquaio's ass and I was looking forward to it, but I didn't buy the pay-per-views because I didn't care about either of the fighters and wasn't willing to spend my money to on the fight. You idiots need to stop with this nonsense.

You're funny. Ali used to admit, when he was generally disliked by mainstream America in the 1960s, that the reason he got the biggest crowds in boxing history up to then was that people were paying in the hope of seeing him get beaten. He had a big mouth and a lot of people wanted to see someone put him in his place and shut him up. And seeing it on youtube isn't the same as seeing it live, whatever your reason for seeing it - I can't believe you were serious when you suggested otherwise.

There are loads of people who find Floyd's style boring but who still pay to see his fights, and a lot of the reason they pay is the hope that they'll witness his first defeat live. There are many other people like you who do appreciate his style, but if you really think that the majority of the boxing fans who pay to see his fights are fans of his style, you're letting your love of him overwhelm your judgement. Pretty much everyone recognises his great talent, but a large percentage of the fans who watch his fights don't like his style.

Most of De La Hoya's fights sold less than 700k, going right back to the start of his career. So according to you, he kept changing from being a star to not being a star to being a star again from one fight to the next throughout his career, and who his opponents were was irrelevant. And if you really believe that, you need a brain implant.
