I think he probably is. But I also think he might be on the downside of his career. An argument can be made that Vusi Malinga is Hozumi's best opponent.

Regardless, I look forward to this fight, both spirited warriors

          Interesting question.

IMO, it's Veeraphol Sahaprom. However, even the version of Sahaprom that Hasegawa faced the first time in 2005 had slipped a bit and showed signs of his age and the effects of a long career in boxing and Muay Thai.

Whether or not this version of Montiel is better than that version of Sahaprom remains to be seen.

EDIT: I read the title too quickly and thought you were asking who was the best he's faced up to now. Still, it's a toss up for me. We'll see after the fight.

Yes, but Hasegawa has fought some pretty good fighters. It's just Montiel is... well Montiel.

Yes, he's the most accomplished and most dangerous fighter Hasegawa has faced. Hasegawa will have to be in top form to win this fight.

It seems that Hasegawa gets better with every fight.

Montiel seems to have leveled off.

                  I could be wrong.

Veeraphol Sahaprom was better, IMO. Although much like Montiel right now, he wasn't at his very best when he fought Hasegawa.
