Mayweather/Mosley 3 Months Older and Later

Back in January when Andre Berto was scheduled to fight Shane Mosley the man who Freddie Roach months earlier refused twice to put Manny Pacquiao in the ring with and who was coming off his most impressive win of his career against Antonio Margorito, everyone agreed that it would have been a fight of the year candidate. Not to mention the countless amount of people who called Mayweather scared and a ducker because he wasn't fighting Mosley at the time. There was no mention of Mosley being too "old" for Andre Berto who is in fact a much younger fighter than Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fast forward to three months later when many peoples nightmares are coming true, and they realized that Mayweather isn't scared of Shane Mosley and the fight is really about to happen this saturday. So what do they panic and do before the fight? Try to taint Mayweathers victory before he gets one on Saturday by claiming that:

"Three months and a training camp later Shane Mosley has caught a severe case of "Olditis". Discuss.

Berto isn't in the class of PBF, so no way anybody would say Shane was too old for him going into that fight. Not hard to figure out TS. And Shane being 38 is nobody's excuse, it's the truth. It just doesn't make him shot. PBF has nothing to be ashamed of if he gets beat, and deserves props if he wins.

Mosley is an old school fighter, the kind of guy that rises to the occasion and has the skill set to box or force Floyd into a fight if he is firing on all cylinders. he is gonna be there to win and has the skills and the mind set to do so, i expect Mosley to be ready.

That makes absolutely no sense. You didn't respond to what he said. Berto is MUCH YOUNGER than Floyd. Shane wasn't too old for Berto but now Shane is too old for Floyd? Floyd being more skilled than Berto doesn't coincide with what he is trying to say. What he is saying is that MOST people here are hypocritical fools who blindly hate for female like reasons.

Class was never the topic, we are discussing age. Class has nothing at all to do with age. When Shane wanted to fight Pac, all you heard was fight of the year... better than mayweather vs pac but not once too old. Going by that logic "Berto is not in Mayweather's class so its perfectly ok", are we to assume that Pac is not in Mayweathers class also because after Mayweather beat Dela Hoya all we heard was that Dela Hoya was old and over the hill. However when Manny beat him he got full credit as he deserved to. No we can't do that so the class vs age logic has to be thrown out as both Manny and Mayweather are in the same class but Pac gets the credit for fighting an older fight that Mayweather didn't. Why the blatant double standards? You are right nothing to be ashamed of for Floyd if he loses and he does def deserve all props for a win. F

I fully expect this to be the case too. If Floyd beats him it won't be because Mosley is old or unprepared just simply Floyd would be the better fighter on May 1st.

That's the point I was making. Age never came up in the Shane-Berto threads because nobody thought anything of Berto. Just a young guy with some talent who'd basically be fodder for Shane. Age only arises in the PBF threads because he's a threat to win and an excuse is needed. Not so with Berto. Most had Shane beating him so discrediting Shane by calling him old was a non factor.

Class doesn't have anything to do with age, but people will say it does when it suits their argument. Nobody really thought berto would win, so they never bothered bringing up Shane's age. Many think PBF will win, so they do bring it up now. If Berto was seen as being the same class of fighter that PBF was, then they would have called Shane old then too. But he's not, so they didn't.
