      Prediction:

Ward cuts Dirrell with a nasty, deliberate headbutt. Goossen's crooked referee Jack Reiss smirks as Dirrell winces in pain. Reiss says it was accidental, it goes to the cards, and Ward wins by TD.

Dirrell can punch and he didnt run from AA.
He got in his bike in the last 3 rounds against Abraham. Abraham looked like he was on his way to knocking Dirrell out and then 'Dre decided he'd roll around on the floor a bit and start twitching.

This fight will likely be terrible. Two fighters taking illegal substances and not being tested after the fight. Ward's combination of brutal, concussive headbutts, excessive holding and punching in clinches, combined with Dirrell's running, excessive clinching and throwing himself on the floor when he gets put under pressure will ensure this will be almost unwatchable.

I wouldn't be surprised if the fight was rigged to be a draw so both men go through.

Here's the situation I can see unfolding -

Ward will already be ensured a place in the Semi-finals after beating Green so he may throw the fight. What may happen is, Ward headbutts Dirrell and the fight is stopped early and both get 1 point each. To me, that is a distinct possibility.

Dirrell needs at least 1 point to get to the next round. He won't get through with 2 most likely. Unless Green were to pull off a big upset or something.

Hershman wants at least 2 American fighters in the Semi-finals.

Shaw, Goosen and Herschman may come up with some sort of script for this one.

So you're eliminating the fact that both men might have some PRIDE? And actually want to BEAT each-other?

I kind of agree with the bolded, Ward is the only one that has only fought once in this tourney... besides Green of course who is still the unknown quantity at this time. Ward-Dirrell will be a very intriguing fight for sure.
BTW, have they decided where the fight will be?

                  Quote of the week.

Ward will beat Dirrell, probably by decision. Though a k.o wouldn't surprise me, considering how soft Dirrell is.
