Gift Decisions And The Fighters Who Need Them

So many of you MayHaters are stuck on Floyd's original win over Castillo, at least 10 times a month a Tard or Mayhater got to bring up the fact that he got a close controversial or even a "gift" against Castillo. Ok, I'll come back to that in a moment.

There's a guy by the name of Oscar De La Hoya who imo, it was his strategy to make the fight close and hope for a gift decision. Against Whitaker, Quartey, and yes Felix Sturm, Oscar is a clear beneficiary of a Gift Decision. However, he is barely criticized at all in winning these fights. Even in his fight against Floyd, Oscar was banking on a gift decision, it was his strategy to be the good guy, fan favorite, look busy and hope the judges dont realize he's hitting nothing but air.

Floyd as we all know immediately rematched Castillo to remove all doubt that he was the better man. That my boxing friends is what you are suppose to do, if a guy gives you a tough fight and a disputed victory then give him a rematch. Floyd did that therefore he shouldn't have to hear **** about this fight ever again.............WRONG, you haters cant get over it.

Enter Shane Mosely, there are many who believe he got a gift over Oscar in their second fight. But unlike Floyd does he grant Oscar a rematch???? NO, his dumb azz passes on the big money rematch and signs to fight Winky who whips his azz for less money. See thats called poetic justice. Floyd should of beat Castillo and did. Shane should of lost to Oscar and got his azz whipped by Winky as a result. Adding insult to injury we all know Shane was High On PEDs for that fight as well.

So lets put it like this, Floyd is still at the top of his game in 2010, so lets get realistic and agree that Floyd beat Castillo, with or without the gift.

Yep, and the the thing with JMM is that this is RECENT, JMM is still active and still considered one of the best P4P, he even actively pursued PAC for the rematch only to be avoided like the plague.

It's pointless for people to dwell on the 1st Castillo fight over and over, but it definitely looked like Floyd lost. He did win the rematch clearly though, so it's a dead issue.

Oscar catches a lot of **** in hindisght by people who feel his drawing power leads to his legacy being overrated. He gets ripped to hell all the time for the decisions he got in those fights. Not that I disagree with that, but saying nobody ever criticizes him for those close calls is ridiculous. People talk more about those fights than the fights he actually did win.

And you just said Mosley got a gift over Oscar in their 2nd fight. Shane won the first one, hence he did give Oscar a rematch the 2nd time. Shane having won the 1st time balanced out Oscar having the gold at JMW in the 2nd fight. They both needed each other.

And you're knocking Mosley for spurning a guy he already fought twice to give an opportunity to a hungry and worthy challenger in Winky who was a stylistic nightmare for him, and doing so for glory as opposed to doing it for money? That's what a fighting champion is supposed to do.

I brought Castillo most of the time when Mayweather fans were saying Clottey beat Cotto.

What credit can you give Oscar though? That's not the same as what Floyd did with Castillo, for instance. Floyd gave him an immediate rematch FOUR months later. Oscar REFUSED to fight Shane again (even though he lost). He waited until Shane had been beaten twice, confidence was clearly shot and then he tried to take advantage. Apples and oranges.

Oscar fought Gatti after the 1st Shane fight then jumped to 154 to win a title while Shane was reigning at 147. Shane jumped to 154 after he'd loss twice to Forrest, but it wasn't a case of Oscar refusing to fight him again imo. After the Vargas fight, Oscar looked bad vs Yuri Boy and needed a big name fight. Shane was there and ready to go by then. Since Oscar lost the title to Shane at 147, he wasn't in a position to refuse to do anything. Shane's the one who had the WBC belt.
