  • Mosley's since he was 31 (2004)

I posted this in another thread but i thought it was worthy enough to be debated in its own topic...

Absolutely agree! I hope it is a great fight but i find it hard to believe that Mosley has found the fountain of youth like he got from the Margarito fight. Lets break down the last six years of Mosley.

Coming off the back to back losses to Winky in 2004, which clearly winky just had his number, he takes on David estrada and decisions him in 2005. I dont know about you but Sugar clearly won but didnt look great doing so. I started having doubts than whether or not he still had.

In early 2006 and summer of 2006 he gave Vargas two old fashioned ass whoopings, which it looked like he was starting to pick up steam again.

Than in 2007, he vowed to move back down to 147 (where all the money was) and he took on Collazo. Luis is a tough fight for anyone and decisioned him. I'm not taking anything away from this fight because Collazo would be a tough out for packy and floyd as well. Not saying he would beat them but I dont think they would beat the snot out of him or even look good doing so.

Fall 2007 he got his shot against the undefeated Cotto, who was slowly becoming the darling of boxing (this was before packy beat oscar). The picking was right and if he wins here, the skys the limit (Mayweather, Oscar, Hatton). But instead he was outpointed by a slower come forward type fighter. Now you can claim that Cotto was primed and this fight was before he got beat the hell out of with a brick, but he came up short in a close fight IMO.

Almost a full year later he takes on Mayorga and KO's him in final seconds of the fight. Although Mosley was up on all 3 judges scorecards. It was a closer fight than it looked.

Finally we get to the Margacheato fight, thankfully Brother Richardson found the bricks in the cheating bastards gloves or Sugar could of seriously been hurt. I dont care what anyone says but there is not a doubt in my mind that this **** sucker cheated against cotto and ruined him (another story, a different time).

Im not taking anything away from this win, but seriously though. How much did the Cotto war take out of Marge?? i think more than we think.

By about the third round, Mosley figured out Marges pattern and tee'd off on him. I felt as if I was watching the same 30 second replay for 6 rounds because Mosley just kept doing the same thing and Marge would not change.

Now looking back just this last 6 years, if you really think Mosley has more than a punchers chance against the most skilled fighter of our era, I'm not going to say you are foolish or in denial. I love the fact you are standing by your fighter and you have hope! Good Luck and Lets Get Ready 2 RUMBBBLLEEE!

I don't think Mosley is the same fighter he was in the lower weightclasses, but it can't be denied that Mosley has beaten all but some of the best fighters since '04. I just think people compare Mosley now to the way he was at 130-135, but he just isn't fighting guys that are smaller then him anymore.

TS, I disagree. I dont think Mosley looked like the good Mosley again until the Vargas fights and I think he's been pretty damn good since. He stopped Vargas and you didnt say it but he killed Collazo. You just went on about how good Collazo is and Shane killed him. Its hard to do that against Collazo. He then fought a prime Cotto. You can say what you want but Pac didnt fight a prime Cotto. Its night & day from the guy he fought. Not only that but I give trainers alot more credit than most and I still say that if he had ****m Richardson then he beats Cotto. He clearly lost but it was a close fight and Shane was coming on late.

Also, I have always disagreed with everyone about the Mayorga fight. I still dont undertand how Shane gets ripped for that. He clearly won and stopped a very tough fighter. I didnt think he had the problems with Mayorga that others keep saying. Everyone acts like every fight is supposed to be perfect. Mayorga is an awkward fighter. I compare it to like when Soliman gave Winky some trouble. It doesnt mean that Winky was garbage that night. Soliman was just so awkward that it was hard to get a rythm. The same with Mayorga and Shane still knocked his ass out.

Again, thats another fight where I think he looks better with ****m. Then we go to Margarito. Im not buying the Cotto crap at all. Margarito ruined Cotto but Cotto didnt do anything to Margarito that hasnt been done in all of his fights. He always gets hit alot, just like Shane hit him alot. I dont think the Cotto fight effected him in any way. Now I do think he used plaster against Cotto but I think he used plaster against Williams and lost that fight. I think he used it agaisnt Santos and lost so we cant act like Margarito is unbeatable with the plaster. He barely hit Shane during that fight. I think even with the plaster, Shane wouldve knocked his ass out.

Cotto was landing on Margarito but he never commited to most of his punches. Shane was digging in Margarito and thats why he took his ass out. Again though, I honestly believe that with his dad or someone else training him, he may have even loss to Margarito. ****m is the #1 reason why I give Shane a bigger chance. I just see the same fights you did and I think Mosley looked a ton better than you say. I think you are underrating the trainer signifcance, I think you are underrating a prime Cotto, I think you are overrating how different Margarito was after the Cotto fight, and so on
