Mayweather is a great fighter but who has he beaten lately that was a competitive fight for him on paper? Not Marquez, he had to come up two weight classes for a catchweight Floyd didn't even pretend to honor. Not Hatton, who had struggled with Collazo (who isn't nearly as good as Mayweather). Not De La Hoya, even though the hype would have had you think otherwise. And I can keep going back through his resume until I start reaching his lightweight fights, where he really was a dominant fighter who took on and beat the best.

With the exception of Clottey (which wasn't competitive only because of Clottey's reluctance to fight), Pacquiao's last few fights have all seen him as the underdog for various reasons. For DLH, Hatton and Cotto leading up to those fights all I ever heard about was how Pacquiao was too small and would get roughed up by these guys. Even with catchweights these fights were viewed as very difficult challenges for Pacquiao. He won them so convincingly that it's difficult to even remember all that happening.

I give Floyd a lot of credit for fighting Mosley because even if he wins, and even if he dominates, it's a tough and competitive fight for him on paper. Mosley is quick, knows how to heat a fight up at a moment's notice, picks up his pace and skill level when he senses he's behind, and is bigger and stronger than most of Mayweather's recent opponents. If Mayweather wins I'll give him a boatload of respect and maybe even consider him the #1 guy again. But he's no Muhammad Ali, he hasn't fought the best guys or even guys that have any shot against him in a long while.

    Great post !!

What's funny about this is people like you believe the only way a boxer can kick another fighters ass is by a knockout. I can come up with a lot of examples where that's not always the case but Sergo Martinez-Kelly Pavlik is a recent example. Are you seriously going to say Pavlik didn't get his ass kicked because he never wen't down? That's just a really ****** way of thinking.

What about Pacquiao? He picked Cotto at 145 for a 147 title. He got ODLH to come down to a weight where he had to I.V. himself to rehydrate. He chose David Diaz over Kastidis, Casamayor, Guzman. Decided to not rematch Marquez.

Get real. Everyone can nit pick man. Floyd may have cherry picked marquez, baldomir and judah but Mosley isn't cherry picked. It was the only legit thing available.
yeah dude, after he chosed between m hatton, paulie, and nate campbell. he chosed mosley...

You don't know what you're talking about. You're so intent on discrediting Mayweather that you're making statements exposing that you don't know what you're talking about at all .Mosley did get a split decision win over Oscar in their first fight. Just like Mayweather did with Oscar. The second fight with Oscar was controversial for Mosley and many people thought he lost. But I'll be the first to say Oscar clearly lost the first fight with Mosley and the fight with Mayweather. One bad scorecard doesn't change what actually happened in the fights. You saying Mayweather "struggled" with Delahoya is just another example of you making false statements. You probably never saw the fight. You obviously never saw Mosley-Delahoya 1 by playing yourself with your comments.

When did Mayweather start negotiations with any of those fighters other than Mosley? I'll wait for a link. Rumors don't count. Show something official. And Nate Campbell never even heard anything from Mayweather's team. He said that himself in an interview with boxingscene.

              • Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, same old tired comments from Floyd. It's like reading a White House press release about Iraq during the Bush era.

Let the battlelines be drawn! Pacquiao is on roids, Floyd is on xylocaine, Pacquiao ducked Zahir Raheem, Mayweather has ducked every single elite fighter in every single division he's won a belt in, the pointless back and forth goes on and on and on and on....

                • Floyd Jr. should stop talking & do his stuff in the ring because that is what he is, a boxer & not a radio commentator or a TV sports analyst or the media .... These guys who voted for Manny as Boxer of the Decade are not boxers, that's what they do .... piss you off so that you will come to your senses & fight Manny on his terms. Floyd Jr.'s terms have been met per his demand of the blood testing .... accept it so that you can silence Manny forever .... if it will ever happen .... ....

Mayweather does not understand why certain people are holding Pacquiao in a higher status and giving him a lot more praise.
