I agree that it depends on the fight...I was shocked that Tszyu went 11 rounds to quit before the 12th when he didn't look in especially bad shape so that was the biggest shock and the worst out of the rash of recent quits..Tyson was really not all that surprising...he was frustrated and starting to behave in the way he did against Holyfield...looked like he almost ripped off McBride's arm...McBride should be happy that Tyson quit instead of freaking out, ****ing McBride up in some way, and then getting DQ'd...but Tyson quitting isn't shocking..what is shocking for a Tyson fight these days?

I remember someone ragging on Joe Frazier for not coming out for the 15th round against Ali, but now it's ok for Tyson to quit? Seems that if it's a fighter you like, it's ok for them to quit, if not people throw a fit. How much name calling would be going on if Holyfield quit against Larry Donald? Friggin people would be beside themselves.

And give me a break about this not wanting to get hurt bull****. Tyson took some shots (this is boxing by the way) but was far from being on the wrong end of a brutal beatdown. This wasn't the 14th round in 100 degree heat.Tyson was leading the fight for Christ's sake before he started to deliberately foul in the 6th. Tyson and his so called fans always talked about how Mike only needed one punch to finish a fight. Wweeellll? The only way mike doesn't have a punchers chance is if he quits like a punk.

To answer the question as to why there was more uproar when Duran quit? Simple. Everyone knew that Duran had heart and wouldn't expect him to quit. Most folks knew Tyson had no heart and would expect him to QUIT. It just wasn't much of a surprise to see Tyson punk out.

          Tszyu quit
          Freitas quit

They are all quitters as far as I'm concerned

            Mike Tyson.......is a FRONTRUNNER.

I don't want to hear about how "brave" he was for hanging in & taking his beatings against Holyfield & Lewis. In those fights, he didn't quit outright, but you could see his reputed ferocity get cut in half as soon as he realized his foes were gonna fight back.

This is a man who has been referred to as the "baddest man on the planet". Fact is, Holyfield is THE bad ass. Holyfield LOVES a war....wants it. Tyson wanted you so scared that you'd be unable to compete with him. He rarely worked for a victory, & NEVER came back after adversity.

In my eyes, the sport has never had a bigger FRONTRUNNER.

If Saturday night was indeed his last night.....it was a fitting end.
