Anyone else think Doug Fischer is a right twat?

Honestly, the quality of writing in the Ring has been on an everest style descent for a while now, but Doug Fischer is the biggest single cause of it imo.

I mean when I read a boxing magazine I want to read unbiased, informative articles, but Fischer doesn't even try to hide his incredible levels of bias.

Honestly, i might stop buying the Ring soon, the magazine ius just pretty much a monthly circle jerk to pictures on Manny Pacquiao, it's pathetic.

I get what you mean, boxing journalism as a whole is in a pretty sorry state. These people have to realise that there's a time and a place for opinion pieces and they shouldn't be letting subjectivism seep into information pieces.

I'd like to see more journalism and less of what I view as glorified blogging.

I really like Ring, but I stopped subscribing due to crappy service. I'd get issues late and some issues just wouldn't show up. In an age when print media is dying you would think a magazine that cost $54 a year for subscriptions would have a better operation.

I was willing to pay for it as long as I actually got my magazine, and not a month late.

On the OP: I like Fischer. His stuff in the actual magazine isn't "glorified blogging" even though his mailbag is, and his tv commentating is excellent...

Yeah exactly, I mean no offense to Pacquiao, but I don't buy the Ring as a "Manny Pacquiao" fan magazine, which is what the thing is turning into, I mean the dude is on the cover almost every single month.

I prefer the articles where they talk about young up and comers, or the weight divisions that arent talked about as much.

I rarely even read the PAC/PBF/Hopkins/Klitschko/Oscar/Hatton articles as they are full of biased crap

This is for the English posters in this thread.....how is Boxing Monthly?

I've seen their rankings and don't really like them, but have never actually read any articles from it.

So what, do you think The Ring is a really good, informal, unbiased magazine?
