I think he is scared to death of Manny Pacquiao. Does anybody want to see Floyd Mayweather beat the hell out of Shane Mosely?
Personally, I don't. Did anybody believe that Juan Marquez would beat him? No. What fight does everyone want to see? Pacquiao vs Floyd.
Will we ever see it? Probably not. Why?
Floyd Mayweather!
If he has an easy fight he is all talk, all smiles, happy-go-lucky. But the mere mention of Pacqiuao turns him into a paranoid wreck!
When everyone around him looks for reasons to make the fight happen, Floyd looks for reasons for the fight not to take place. He wants the biggest purse, he gets it, he wants to fight in a certain location, he gets to; everything he wishes for lands right at his beckoning call. He has 10 million reasons to fight, and a lone single one why he should not.
That reason is ego. It has run in the Mayweather family for decades. His dad Floyd Sr., Uncle Roger, and himself are so egotistical that they can only get along together for short periods of time.
If approached to fight Manny Pacquiao for $10 million, I would take the fight anywhere, on any notice, and do whatever to make it happen. My training would consist of setting up college funds for my kids and hospitals for myself, but for that money, I would not think twice about it.
However, Mayweather is far too rich, spoiled, self-obsessed, and egomaniacal for this fight to take place. He can call himself the pound-for-pound greatest and undefeated, but certainly not undisputed. This guy is so afraid to have a blemish on his record that the fight will never take place.
All I can say is put up or shut up Folyd!
If you don't sign a contract after the Mosley fight to fight Pacquiao, you will have to deal with a word that your ego would have as much trouble digesting as it would a loss, and that word is "chicken!"
