    Roger mayweather on pads

We have all seen the footage of Mayweather on the pads ( not sure what you call them in the states ) But it looks to me like Roger is doing all the work, if you watch, Floyds hands don't move that much & when he does that BS by looking in to the camera when he's on them, it looks even more ******. I used to box & now i coach boxing but am i missing something by not doing this style of pad work ? Or is it just a load of tv nonsense ?

My guess is that he's just showing off... I doubt his real work is on camera all that much.

It's for hand-eye cordination. If you don't think he hits the pads normal you're crazy.

that routine is just to work on his reflexes, timing and accuracy.

              yes and no

yes in the sense that in terms of pure boxing honing it doesn't do much unless you have a trainer trying to throw punches back at you with those mitts. They used to be used solely for warming up a fighter but now they seem so trendy to do. It's not a good target developer and can indeed hinder a fighter's progress if they are young by showing them improper technique by almost allowing for alot of arm punching in order to hit the target.

mitts need to be used as part of a whole routine in order for it to be effective and even then from a cardio POV

no in the sense that it is a strong cardio workout if done the lengths Floyd does them (they said he and Roger went 40 minutes straight which to me is mind boggling) then it keeps his heart rate strong. Where you gain technique is on the heavy and double end bags. Heavy bags will teach how to torque into a punch and allow you to really throw your weight into punching. DE bags will really show you how to keep your punches on target and balanced

it called Catch Reflex. We do the same at our gym, its for reacting to on coming punches and countering.

Look where you at and where he's at. You could learn a lot from him.

Hell! My trainer is a former world champ and mofo can't even do anything more than 1-2 block, 1-2 block. Imma get a better trainer than that.

                    Thank you!!!!

Its also used for coordination and reflexes and the practice allows you to quickly get your shots off whenever you see an opening.
