I got this from another site...
Over the past year all of the top boxing stars of the last 10-20yrs have been been getting taken out by hunger(more hungry?) talent.
First-Roy Jones get destroyed by Antonio Tarver in 2 rounds and humilated by Glen Johnson in his comeback in 9 rounds.his record stands at 49-3(38)
Oscar De La Hoya-he gets stopped by Bernard Hopkins(although Hopkins isnt young he wasnt as big and was hungry). You could even count the ass whupping Felix Sturm gave him.37-4(29)
Evander Holyfield- he gets utterly humilated by a Larry "The C fighter" Donald and loses a lopsided 12 rounds decision. He has also suffered one sided beatings at the hands of Chris Byrd and James Toney.38-8-1(28)
Felix Trinidad-Tito was dominated and outclassed over 12 rounds by Winky Wright, over 12 rounds he only connected w/ 55 punches. He has announced his 2nd retirement.42-2(35)
Kosta Tsyzu- He was savaged by Ricky Hatton and refused to come out for the 12th round.31-2(25)
Mike Tyson-He losses to Danny Williams in 4 rounds(after a knee injury)and gives up after 6 against Kevin McBride. He has said he probably wont fight anymore.
50-6(44)
to a lesser extent-
Shane Mosley-had one once in 6 fights. He lost 2 decisions to Forrest. Beat DLH. Then he lost convincingly twice to Winky Wright. He did come back against David Estrada, but could that be a fluke like Tito and Tsyzu's comebacks.Mosley-39-4(35)
I hate to say it but are Hopkins and Gatti next?
They are fighting younger and hungrier fighters. Both of their opponents have been undefeated.
Right now their records are
Arturro Gatti-39-6(30)
Bernard Hopkins-46-2-1(32)
No matter whether or not Hopkins and Gatti win or lose, I want to thank these 9 men for their blood, sweat and tears.
