Floyd Mayweather has made a complete fool out of Pacquio, and I'm not happy.

We're a week out from what might be the biggest fight in a decade, and somehow the storied resurrection of boxing, Manny Pacquio, is not involved.

How strange is that? New and old boxing fans alike were referring to Manny as the savior of the sport, a Christ-like figure sent to save boxing in the wake of declining numbers, lackluster matchups, and MMA's ever growing popularity. We haven't heard his name much at all lately though, unless it was the same sentence as "drug tests" and "steroids", or potential match-ups with disgraced (Margarito), deceased (Valero), or just plain lesser fighters (Khan).

All the excitement, all the hype, all the steam propelling Pac's career to super-stardom has disappeared since the letdown of "The Event". The PPV numbers for a fight against a guy basically unknown outside of hardline boxing fans were surprisingly good.

Why? Because Manny Pacquio fights aren't like other boxers at the top like Mayweather and the Klitschkos, Manny only faces tough guys for all-out battles. Manny Pacquio fights are fights where you get your money's worth.

They certainly were, until the Clottey fight.

How could they have known Clottey wasn't going to fight? Well, they wouldn't have had to worry about that, had they had taken the more competitive, better paying, and most importantly more meaningful fight.

Somehow Floyd, the "arrogant coward", is both cleaning up the sport and fighting one of the toughest and most anticipated fights of his career.

I'm a Pacquiao fan, and I'm not happy. I think it's time for other Pacquiao fans to be mad too. I'm tired of being disappointed and bull****ted by the guy we've all rallied behind and supported since he came to America.

A year ago if you had said on this forum that Pacquio is going to turn down a fight with Floyd because he doesn't want to drug test, so Floyd is going to challenge Mosely instead, you would have been Red k'd and laughed into oblivion. But, As Larry Merchant said last weekend on Boxing After Dark:

"How things do change, Bob. How things do change."

Thanks. I don't usually post "articles", but it's been on my mind all week.

You'll feel better about Pacquiao vs. Margarito. I really do see it coming.

Hope you don't get red K'd. At any rate, hopefully Pac fights Mayweather, or at least Bradley or Berto, to save face. Pac vs Marg is a garbage fight.

mosley-mayweather is not the biggest fight of the decade. it's a manufactured superfight just like mayweather vs hatton or marquez were. superfights are between great fighters in the same division in their prime or a great fighter moving up 1 division to take on another great fighter. a 38 year old mosley vs mayweather is a decent fight but oh what the powers of marketing can do.

Really? I kinda think Margagrito's gonna take what he thinks is a safer bet and rematch Martinez. I realize Pac would be the biggest payday out there, but if he loses he'll be fighting guys like Clottey!

that part where it said, "if somebody had said a year ago, pacquiao would turn down a floyd fight, and floyd would challenge shane mosley, they'd be red k'd and laughed into oblivion," was very true.

while i don't think mosley-mayweather will surpass mayweather-de la hoya, i do expect this to be the biggest fight since then. i expect this fight to do between 1.5-2, probably closer to 2. that said, i wouldn't be totally shocked if it came close to 2.3 or 2.4. for pacquiao to be labeled as the "top draw" in the sport, he ain't touching those kind of numbers.

he had a chance to make one of the few fights in the sport the world would pay attention to, and he declined. hopefully after saturday, he and top rank will realize it's worth making.

i find it hard to believe pacquiao fans are actually looking forward to a pacquiao-margarito fight, or a pacquiao-cotto II. why?
