Tzyu quit, straight out quit. He didnt protest the decision once it was made.

Now Tyson quits and all the fans say he's a quitter and I read all the articles and the same media guys are calling him a quitter. I just dont get it. I dont care if Tszyu broke his jaw or what. He had just 1 round left and couldve easily finished. Why does he get a pass?

If anything Tyson should be given the benefit. He's the one who has been through alot, hasnt been a good fighter in years, is basically fighting just for money, and isnt in a big fight. Tszyu is a champ in a big fight and was losing but wasnt getting beat that bad and he quit because he couldnt take losing or didnt want to get stopped. That is disraceful.

Bottom line is if Tyson is a quitter then Tszyu damn sure is also
he didn't get a pass from me. If you quit, you are a quitter by definition.

thats their spin on it now. Tzyzu didn't seem to upset at the time, in fact if given the opportunity, I thought he might mount Hatton right there in the middle of the ring.

          Tszyu not really a quitter

The reason why Tszyu is not being considered a quitter and Tyson is is simple: this is the first ever time Tszyu quit whereas Tyson quitting when he is in trouble has become a pattern throughout his career. Often when a fighter quits once he is judged for having no heart when that really isn't the case. Klitschko is a prime example, he was branded a quitter but he proved against Lewis that that isn't really the case. Same with Foreman, he quit once against Ali, or at least could've have gotten up and didn't, but in his soon after fight against Ron Lyle he showed great heart and also showed great heart every other time he encountered adversity since that point on. This is why even with someone like Freitas, I am going to wait to see what happens when he has a chance to redeem himself, before I lable him a quitter.

I am pretty sure that Tyson has never gotten up from a knockdown in his career, and has essentially quit four times by my count. Twice with Holyfield and now with Williams and McBride.

There is one other major difference in the Tszyu and Tyson cases. Tszyu did not have any chance of winning the fight when he quit. If he was to continue into the last round it would be purely for the point of going the distance and taking a beating. Tyson was ahead in the fight when he quit, and it was definately possible for him to win if he continued. Yeah he was tiring, but a 271 pound opponent is going to get pretty tired in the late rounds as well, especially since Tyson was landed some pretty good body shots.

KT also dished out quite a bit of punishment. From what I hear, Tyson was getting outclassed. It's sad.
