Did they hold a gun to Tyson's ugly head? No. Tyson knew what he was getting into. **** him.

Being a Boston Red Sox fan, I was used to getting my heart broken every year(except last year when they won the world series) but this hurts! The thing that hurts so bad is that the fight wasn't out of Tyson's hands; he wasn't losing or being dominated like he was when Lewis fought him.

By quitting like this, it hurts his legacy and labels him a quiter in boxing history. It wouldn't be so bad if the ref had stopped the bout or even if he lost by decision. Today is a sad day in boxing, with us boxing fans morning the passing of Iron Mike's career and in the manner in which it ended.

My friends, it's not too late.
Mike Tyson can still clean out the division.

        I'm serious.

Couple of things that it seems people are forgetting. *Btw i was saddenned deeply by the loss*. But he is only 38, ok old as a boxer but not that old. My mum is older lol, and she can still enjoy her life. Thats all i wish for Mike now, to have a great life, he still has it ahead of him. Has he actually announced his retirement or has he asked for a retirement or what. I heard he was winning on points when he quit so i dont understand y he did especially as i didnt c the fight. Can some1 come back on these points.

I don't think this one fight is really going to have that much of an effect on his reputation...after all his is already labeled as an ear-biter and a child-eater .

Seriously, though, it's obvious that there are two halves to Tyson's career...the one when he was heavyweight champion, and the long drawn-out saga after he lost his titles. The first half was an unqualified success, and his legacy from that time will depend on what you think of the quality of his opponents. The second half had some good moments and he did manage to hold onto a title for a short time, but let's face it...mostly it was a disaster. This one last fight won't make too much of a splash in that ocean.

RE: Tyson being a Hall of Famer. Whatever his achievements, I think that for the next fifty years at least it will be his name and Ali's that go up there in the public consciousness as heavyweight champions. Holmes, Holyfield and Lewis may have arguably achieved more, but in terms of raising the public profile of the sport (for better or for worse) Tyson kept it alive for many, many years. That's something to be grateful for, and even today as a fringe contender he can still draw the crowds.

Sorry, that should be "COULD still draw the crowds." It's still hard to get used to accepting it...

Lennox Lewis for the most part was left alone, he got into nothing he was handled the wrong way. They pushed Tyson like Sonny Liston was pushed.

I tend to disagree with the last part of this post. Whatever else Tyson was, he was never a quiter before. A lot of people, including me questioned the **** conviction. And even the earbiting incident could be seen as retaliation for repeated headbutts. But to see the guy intentionally headbutt McBride, put him in an armbar, and then quit on the bench when he was ahead on points. I honestly think he has sunk to an alltime low.

That being said, Tyson unquestionably belongs in the HOF. Furthermore he is entertaining and a huge public draw. I could easily see him starring in a movie as a supervillian are on a reality type tv show. Tyson is not gone from the public eye. Mark my words.
