I found it very odd that Gary Shaw was nowhere to be seen with a television camera around. Could be the issue behind Angulo's late weigh in.

Gary was in the ring when Angulo walked in, Shaw gave him a nice kiss on the lips.

Angulo will have an exciting but short lived career with his current style and I do not see him beating any of the top guys. He is a less powerful but slightly straighter punching version of Kirkland.

What are you talking about? Julio got KOed by Kirkland , badlier and earlier than with Angulo. Angulo is strong and young, he has that rough look, always pressure and high work rate, just like his coutryman, Margarito. I give him credit for the win, good fighter, but I dont believe that he will have a chance against Kirkland.

i personaly dont see why so much hate or ill will for angulo? have you ever heard him say anything negative about his oponents? no thats not his style. some of you down grade him becouse he gets hit to much and that he has no defence bla bla bla but are the same jerks that complain when there is not enougth action in a fight did you foes ever think that he probaly gets hit alot becouse he wants to give people there moneys worth! let me explain the diference between angulo and kirkland in an interveiw a reporter asked alfredo who would win between himself or kirkland his reply he is a very good fighter and the day we fight thats when will know who is better then the same question is asked of kirkland and he says he is the best and would win the fight and angulo smiles and says lets make the fight. as for pounding concrete and eventually it craaks that is true for example here where i live recently a bridge was torn down becouse as you say it was cracking. it was built in the 1930's and torn down in the early 2000's it served for 70 years if my math is corect and in those years it fullfilled its purpose. thats the way boxing is in case you jerks dont know there are diferent ways to get to the top in boxing diferent styles is what makes boxing interesting and there have been boxing greats that made it to the top and made good money and where very sucsessfull in doing there way like angulo. a few examples rocky marciano, mathew sad mohamed, goerge foreman, joe fraisur, mike tyson, pipino cuevas, arturo gatti, thats just a few i could go on and on el perro makes boxing fun thank god for el perro win or loose el perro is a man of honner.

I was rooting for Julio, but props to Angulo for the determination if not the skill. Julio made him look foolish at times and Julio himself isnt a world beater. Anytime Angulo fights a boxer hes going to lose unless they run out of gas or he can catch them with something big. Angulo-Margarito is the fight that needs to happen.

Angulo gets hit too much, his chin will crack one day. You can't just let your opponents punch away at you and expect no consequences down the line. Even cement cracks when you hit it so many times with a hammer.

props to angulo for the win. all you ***** haters should be ashamed. i thought kirkland was better before he went to jail, its obvious angulo has stayed busy so he's probably better now. its funny what one loss does to you, the loss to cintron (who's considered at least top 5 in the division) made everyone say he's nothing special. haha. wow. people these days. this kid will be champ soon. just watch. that being said i really hope he does work on his defense. he needs it.

No, I may have said that wrong. I'm thinking the Kirkland who beat Julio is the better fighter over the Angulo who beat Julio. I am using kind of triangle theories, but one thing is for sure. Angulo has a horrible defense and a great chin. But how many times is he going to get hit before his chin cracks? You can't constantly keep taking punishment like that!

Triangle theories don't work, plain and simple. Angulo actually didn't show horrible defense in this fight, say what you want about Joel Julio but he's a good boxer, with speed and hits very hard. Angulo was catching a lot of his shots with his gloves and forearms. I agree, he does stand in front a too much but he also has less than 20 fights under his belt.

Julio by the mid to later rounds was doing nothing but throwing arm punches and running. Angulo was hurting him everytime he hit him and wasn't even going to the body as much as he should have. I thought Angulo showed great patience and took his time wearing down his opponent. Very good and impressive win for El Perro.
