Comments Thread For: Alfredo Angulo Inches Closer To a Title Shot, Flattens Julio

By Jake Donovan - A rough fight week for Alfredo Angulo spilled over into the first half of his HBO-televised co-feature bout with Joel Julio. Patience turned out to be of virtue, as the Mexican puncher rallied in the second half to seize control and eventually stop the faded fringe contender in the eleventh round Saturday night at the Citizenz Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.

The fight cost Angulo $15,000 after failing to arrive on time for Friday’s weigh-in (where he registered at 153 ¾ lb, compared to 153 ¼ lb for Julio), but provided him with something far more important to the 27-year old at this stage of his career – forward progress. [Click Here To Read More]

Since he's the interim champion he doesn't have to inch closer to anything. Dzinziruk will fight him anytime he pleases.

That shot in the 11th was dead on solid, but overall wasn't too impressive .then he wonders why he didn't get more attention during fight week and during the promotion aspect.

Mixed feelings on Angulo, Kirkland might be able to beat him. I thought before Kirkland went to jail that Angulo was the better fighter out of the two of them. I don't think that now, but who knows what jail did to Kirkland. He could be a ruined fighter. Kirkland stopped Julio awhile back and looked much more impressive at doing it.

I agree with you. Angulo rose to the occasion, needed a KO to win decisively and did so, shows good determination(something boxers are lacking in these days). Impressive win by KO!

Angulo gets hit too much, his chin will crack one day. You can't just let your opponents punch away at you and expect no consequences down the line. Even cement cracks when you hit it so many times with a hammer.
