i dont think it has hurt hs legacy that much. Fat ass Larry Holmes embarresed himself way worse, Ali looked horrible against Holmes, Joe Lois got murdered in his last days (and he started wrestling), Ray Robinson was getting dominated way worse than Tyson has. So i think people still going to think Tyson was one of the best.

A lot of people now think he was one of the best Heavyweights of all time, although hes proably the most overated athlete ever. He never beat anyone good, he lost all his big fights by getting dominated. People still love him and think highly of him, so i dont think this defeat will hurt him that much. At least he went out not looking bad like ALi, Joe Lois, Larry Holmes or Roy Jones.

I gotta agree with Santino here. Joe Louis against Rocky looked ten times the fighter Tyson was against Williams. He was boxing Marciano carefully and keeping him away with his jab until age finally caught up with him and even then he refused to quit. On his very worst night, Joe Louis still looked more capable than Tyson has since the Holyfield fights, and Louis went out on his shield while Tyson quit twice in a row.

Let's not even get into Holmes or Robinson. Comparing any of these guys to Tyson is a disgrace.

No matter how you want to put it, Tyson quit on his stool, with no injuries, in a fight he could have easily won. Without a doubt this was one of the most cowardly displays from a former heavyweight champion in boxing history.

I didn't see the fight, I just read some news accounts about it online. Could Mike Tyson "have easily won"? I got the impression that he was getting punched around pretty good and was fouling McBride a lot (head butts, low punches, and grabbing the guy's arm). If you can easily win a match, then you don't resort to those kind of tactics.

you cant call it cowardly, u werent tyson.... think of it like this, he dindt want it anymore, he was getting pissed off, and tell me, when was the last time u saw a KO by tyson after the first 3 rounds..... i mean, instead of fighting on, and probly getting KO'd again, you can jus quit on your stool, and make the same amount of money in less time.... makes sence to do it doesn't it

I agree. I'm not willing to call any boxer cowardly for deciding he's gotten pounded enough for one day--maybe even for his whole career. Any of you guys who have boxed know it takes a decent amount of courage to climb into the ring. I just hope Iron Mike will really retire before he gets himself hurt.

I said it in one of my prev. Posts

It's hard for us die hard Tysons fans to watch. I hope this is it for him. I realy did love the guy! I've seen every one of his fights, every one. I saw his first ESPN fight, and I knew he was going to be the guy to watch. I was the only Tyson fan in the room when he took the tittle from Holmes. Had no clue he was such a fragile package mentally. He was young.. supper focused, fast as hell and more powerfull then anyone I had seen up to that time. He looked liked he was hurting people. Bad intensions indeed. Elusive Aggression. It's been a long ,long time since he's been even a fratcion of the fighter he was back then and it's been a sad, sad thing to watch. I really hope this is it for him. He could make money doing appearances at Youth Camps and Prisions if he needs money. Just stay out of the ring, Please!
