Yes I am. An African American male who grew up in the inner city of the KC metroplex. Who because I attended an interscholastic school, my teachers and administrators were amazed that I had dreams outside of touting heat or repping my set. Amazed that when my standardized test scores came in they were graded in the top 5 percentile of all test scores. Amazed that when my ACT scores came in I was scoring in the 30's, and that I'd be commuting half way across the country to attend college.
I know first hand how this country works, and it isn't pretty. And the ignorance continues even in the college classrooms.
