    Is boxing the answer??

I've always thought that boxing helps control your temper outside the ring, who wants to fight outside the ring when you can do it legally inside the ring.

I dont know any fighters who go looking for trouble and use weapons, they dont need too, which is a lot better when trouble does happen because a bust nose is better than a bullet in the head.

Boxings also a very demanding sport, it would help solve the obese problems we seem to have.

Keeping fit & learning repsect, i dont understant why people think its bad when it does so much good.

    Anyone agree/disagree??

Just got back from the pub hey Elveiel??? Me too!... LOL!...

Boxing IS the answer!... People in the fight game rarely get into fights outside it, because there is respect involved with being a boxer.

You know what i have started strongly agreeing with the point of view that boxing really does help outside of the ring in terms of temper. As im new to the sport im seeing very noticeable differences in my anger and all that outside the ring.

Take the other day when sum boy started on a load of my mates. I didnt get involved as i would normally do, cos for a start a understand the implications of fighting, secondly i no longer need to prove anything to anyone. Thats not to say im a loyal friend anymore, cos if need be i would certainetly do all i can to defend myself (1) but also defend my friends and family if they are in danger (2).

I think you would have to experience this first hand to be able to judge. The so-called "experts" like these political pressure groups looking for boxing to banned and all that bollux simply dont understand what boxing does, in terms of positive impact. All they do is sit behind a desk, produce endless propaganda against the sport, and look at meaningless bits of paper. Introduce boxing into the community and id say crime rate would fall dramatically. to be fair though i would certainetly say that there is about a 5% minority who would use their boxing skills for being a thug. Im sure no1 on this forum is like that though, and that just goes to show how small that minority is in the outside world.

if everyone on the street had some level of boxing skill there would be a lot less fights, because the next person you pick a fight with could be an animal but look like a push over.

At the moment i'm not worried about fighting, 95% of blokes are bitches so the chances are if i got into trouble i wouldnt even break a sweat.

I think any sport someone learns that requires discipline can carry over, but I think we're naive if we think boxers are good at controlling their temper.

Boxing as far as sports goes seems to have a disproportionate number of athletes being arrested in the news, often for assault, sexual and otherwise.

Some of these guys can't even stay calm at the damn press conferences...

I'm certainly a fan of the sport, but like in any other form of entertainment, many of the participants of the sport are pieces of crap, just like in the real world.

Russell Crowes recent boxing training in the Cinderella Man didnt help him with his temper ..as he almost took some hotel workers head off with a telephone.. I think Martial Arts are much better at helping one remain calm and control their respective tempers out on the street!!!

Ok then ill conceed its down to individual difference then. I have never been calmer in situation of conflict though and i strongly believe that is a result of the boxing i took up about 2-3 months ago.

Boxing helped to curb my aggresion when outside of the ring. After all, what is there really to prove by knocking out some street punk. On top of that, after taking and dishing out 1000's and 1000's of blows in the ring why would you want to go out and do it more. If there is no money involved in it than it is simply a waste of time and energy. Besides, a real man can deal with his confrontations with words and his mind, its the little ***** that has to decide a dispute with his fists.........Rockin'
