How can a guy with as much skill as Dirrell have as little confidence as he has? It's just the mentality of the fighter, Something they were born with. Froch will always have huge confidence until he loses.

Until then he believes he is the best and can't lose, that's his greatest asset. Very simular to Mayweather, The fact that he hasnt lost makes him more confident in his ability.

Khan had the same confidence whilst doing the same thing, only he cant take a punch and so was brought back down to earth.
      Definitely.

But the last 3 were all world class, and even if I don't think those wins (minus Pascal) should be confidence building since he struggled so much against Dirrell and Taylor, it still has build confidence in his mind !

does he just overate himself ?

I've heard him in an interview saying that it is not true what people say about his defense being poor because HE DOESN'T GET HIT

But Floyd has almost never came close to lose. Froch was seconds away of losing his title in his very first title defense.

It is definitely his biggest asset, but will it be his downfall ?

I think that confidence helped him against Taylor because even though he was getting schooled he did not get discouraged in the fight, that to me was down to his unshakable confidence, another fighter might have already beaten themselves mentally and accepted the defeat. Froch's confidence gives him an extra 10/20% on what he already has imo,

With that said i thought Dirrell beat him clearly.
