Comments Thread For: Tomasz Adamek Has No Fear of Arreola's Size and Power

By Keith Idec - Cristobal Arreola is too big and too strong for Tomasz Adamek.

Adamek doesn’t hit hard enough to make Arreola respect him. Adamek eats essentially every right hand thrown in his direction.

Ronnie Shields has heard all about Arreola’s advantages since he began training Adamek about two months ago for the popular Polish contender’s career-shaping showdown with Arreola tonight in Ontario, Calif., near Arreola’s hometown of Riverside. The respected trainer from Houston has worked with one of the most accomplished “small” heavyweights in boxing history, however, so he isn’t intimidated by Adamek’s assignment in a 12-round fight that’ll be broadcast as an HBO “Boxing After Dark” main event from Citizens Business Bank Arena. He shouldn't. Respect Arreola's pop, but don't be gunshy. In any fight, especially at HW, speed kills. Adamek has the style to put it on Arreola if he's on his game. Just go for the points and forget trying to KO the big man. And don't be afraid to clinch. Wrong fight for Adamek to try and be a warrior.

Arreola HAS NEVER IMPRESSED ME WITH ANY REAL " SKILLS " , IF HE WINS IT WILL BE BY BRUTE FORCE. IF IT GOES MORE THAN FIVE ROUNDS HIS INABILITY TO GET INTO CHAMPIONSHIP SHAPE WILL COST HIM THE FIGHT .

The same weight at which he fought Klitschko... hope he's added some muscle or he's gonna have a bad night.

I agree, you have to be techical fighting Arreola, he is bigger and stronger. Klitchko exposed Arreola on how to beat him, but you need the power, a strong jab and the height to do it, and I dont think Adamek has any of those. If arreola catch him with one of those hammers, he is gone.

What's up with this 6'4"/ three inches taller stuff? There's no way he's that much taller than Adamek.

Arreola is too slow, period.... something Adamek can exploit with busy boxing. If the Pole stays focused all the way, he takes a clear decision.

I think Arreola has more skills than many give him credit for. He can throw combinations, which is rare in the HW division. He has a solid amateur background. He has a solid chin. His only flaw is his inability to get into the kind of shape real champions like the Klitschkos attain.

Adamek has got huge cojones: he's going to need to use Vitali's plan of lateral movement and frequent punching from all kinds of angles to keep Arreola off balance, taking his chances as he sees them.

It's a very hard fight to call, but Adamek has the tougher job tonight.
