Could Golden Boy rebound in 2010?

Let's face it. Golden Boy boxing took a HUGE hit in 2009. Their biggest draw (Calzaghe) retired, Shane was inactive, Winky got humiliated, Floyd was gone for a majority of the year, Casamayor and Andrade got KTFO (well Casa was in 2008, but he never bounced back), Diaz got beat up three times and their top prospect was labeled as a quitter.

But is 2010 their chance to rebound? They now have one of the two biggest attractions in boxing back (Floyd). Ortiz and Khan should come out victorious in two weeks, which will put them on the map in one of the livest divisions in the sport. They also have Saul Alvarez, who is already a huge attraction in Mexico at the age of 19 and one of the biggest HW stars in David Haye. Paulie Mali...I mean Sergio Mora came back from a brief retirement, and will be aiming for the big names at 160 again after one more tune up. Their new WW prospect, Jermell Charlo looks pretty good too. Who knows, he might make a statement some day.

As much as I hate Bob Arum's guts, he did have a point when he said that a lot of the talent is under Top Rank. A lot of them are also promoted by Gary Shaw.

GBP will do better. Ortiz and Khan will rebound nicely, though with Bradley and Alexander at the top of 140, I don't know how far. They'll make good WW's one day though. Alvarez may be a long term project, but they'll see good results with Haye. I figure he'll fight Arreola in a big LA fight, then a mandatory, then Wlad. They'll probably milk him for all they can before a Wlad fight. Then Floyd will probably fight twice this year, and will probably do 2+million PPV in two fights.

Lou throws his real talent in with the big dogs. Big risk = big opportunity. In the last few years Paulie's fought Cotto, Hatton, Diaz, and now Khan. Sergio fought Cintron, Williams, and Pavlik.

Golden Boy are the kings of hype-job these days. They just want to groom pretty faces into superstars in hopes they'll make another DLH. Diaz, Ortiz, Khan? Oscar should get into the male modeling game.

Unless they get punks like Ed Keenan under control, and stop blacklisting independent boxing forums, Golden Boy Promotions will continue their decline.

It would also help if they stopped insulting the boxing community with farces like BHop v RJJ.

A lot of the talent is with Top Rank??
Well it only seems that way because they don't take the risks as Golden Boy does.
If Diaz was in Top Rank he wouldn't of rematched Malignaggi. That's how protected they are of their fighters. That's how I see it.

nah... Golden Boy doesnt really have that much great talent.. I think its possible Khan might get outboxed by Paulie IMO.. the biggest star golden boy has is Floyd and Floyd wont even aknowledge he's a part of Golden Boy .. BHOP might move on.. they might get hit even harder before the year is over..
