Don King should let Judah fight to pay off whatever debt he has, if that's the problem. Good to see Alexander ready to fight anyone, but he shouldn't fight anyone at welterweight. One day he'll move up, but he should just stay and make the best outta 140 for now.

You make some excellent points. However, if you have just figured this out, you are obviously a new boxing fan. HBO and King have had a tumultous relationship since King took Mike Tyson off HBO and placed him on Showtime (and in the process, giving Showtime the previous record for the number of buys in a PPV match (1.9 million) in a match between Tyson and Holyfield).

In the early part of this decade, the only reason why HBO had any dealings with Don King at all was due to the fact that Felix Trinidad was a Don King fighter. After Trinidad/De La Hoya did 1.4 million PPV buys in 1999, HBO had no problem dealing with King to keep Trinidad from going to Showtime. Unfortunately, King has fallen on hard times in the last few years and hasn't had any elite fighters that interested HBO. Take my word for it. If Alexander keeps winning on Showtime, HBO will be putting his manager on speed-dial.

True that, it's an excellent post. HBO acts like a promotional company and works with Arum. Don King fighters don't get fights on national TV and ppv.

And then go on to beat Holt, fight Campbell, face a super fast contender in Peterson and is only now getting on HBO against Maidana AND he has and exciting style. He did that in two years.
This is typical for HBO. They let Showtime develop the fighters. Once they become established stars, HBO takes them away. The exception to this rule is Golden Boy fighters. Since they have this ridiculous contract with Golden Boy, they allow him to showcase unproven fighters on HBO like Ortiz, who should still be fighting on ESPN.

You would think Arum was so holy. Really a shame how the game has blackballed King who has done as much, and more, than any other promoter alive.

mexicans and puerto ricans can draw before they are mainstream stars yet.

                  just how it is.

plus don king is minor leagues now as far as promotions go.
