Why does a fighters purse/PPV numbers matter.

One of the worst threads I've ever read was on ESB when someone said "I'm glad Pacquiao turned down the Hatton fight because he deserves more than 50%" (it later got renegotiated to 52/48). It wasn't even a joke thread.

Being happy to NOT see a big and meaningful fight take place because you want another man (who's a multimillionaire) to get some extra money.
