well baldy was ranked higher than marg by ring magazine and recognized as a better fighter by boxing fans at that time. anyway u look at it baldy was the fight to make at 147 at that time, mosley at 154, cotto at 140, marg a nobody.

it was baldy or spinks and floyd got critisized for not wanting to fight a big strong WW and although spinks was a legit 147lber he wasnt exactly the most physical guy out there, so he went with baldy. it was good enough until he beat him.
