~Mayweather and Mosley: The Speed Difference.~

Watched Cotto vs. Mosley again as I ate breakfast. And I must say Cotto was way faster then him. He beat him to the punch most of the fight. He timed Mosleys punches at will. His jab barely missed and he was snapping Shanes head back all night.

So how do you think the speed difference will be in this fight?

    Very Close in Floyds favor
    Very Close in Shanes favor

I ask this because after watching that fight closely. Mosley did not look that fast at all. It wasnt because Cotto is this speed demon it was because Cotto was timing him PERFECTLY. Shane didnt let his hands go that much in fear of getting a crisp counter shot in his face. So in essence Cottos timing and speed made Cotto the faster fighter.

Now vs. Mayweather: Who times fighters better then Floyd? Who is more accurate then Floyd? Who has better reflexes? Who is smarter then Floyd? Then you have Floyds handspeed. Who I still think is faster then Pacquiao. Floyd throws the one punch alot faster then Pac throws his one punch. But Pac strings Combos better. But anyway I think the speed gap will be night and day in this fight. I actually feel Floyd will make Shane look slow. Floyd looks to be in much better shape then in the JMM fight and they are working on combos and handspeed in camp. People say Floyd was rusty vs. JMM Idont see it. I see him carrying extra weight and he was still blazing fast and still had INSANE reflexes.

Heres some hi-lights put together of the JMM fight showing just his reflexes:

The first 2:50 is the JMM-Floyd stuff.

Mosley is on about his reach being bigger then Mayweathers, so he said speed will be the difference for the fight, it's funny because Shane Mosley had a 7 inch reach advantage on Miguel Cotto & yet Cotto jabs were landing & beating Mosley to the punch for majority of the fight.

hand speed is close maybe about even.

      Floyd timing is just better

      Don't confuse timing with speed

it depends entirely on how much power they put in their punches, if they just do a flick punch, that punch is thrown quicker than anyone putting force in their punch.

Jab and small punches floyd has the edge

mosley throws quick power punches, quicker than floyd or pac

I have a feeling after considering whats been said in this thread and then looking to the fight after cotto (vs mayorga) that its going to be a blowout in mayweathers favour

Its close, maybe with a slight advantage for Floyd. The way he throws his punches makes him look slower.

But he has lost A LOT of speed over the years. Just look at how fast he is at 130. If he was that fast now, I would have picked him to stop a lot of his opponents whom he went the distance with.

Part of me thinks it can be close but after I watched that fight today mannnnnn.

Floyd is too damn fast and quick for him.

That was not the same Shane we saw vs Margarito. When he fought Mayorga, he had absolutely no reflexes at all, and his speed was HORRIBLE. It actually looked like Mayorga was matching him in speed LOL It was also at 154, so that could have contributed. Naazim corrected a lot of these problems, but unfortunately his legs were too old to bring back to the way they were years ago.
