Is clinching excessively and using as a tactic considered cheating to you?

Slowing your opponents hand-speed down, slowing down the pace of the fight because you can't keep up with your opponents. Is it cheating to you? I know a fighter was dq'd for those type of tactics against Juan Manuel Marquez before.

Not only does it make most fights a bore to watch, but I consider it cheating.

Yes, it is cheating when used as a tactic when you're not even hurt

No. If Cotto knew how to clinch he wouldve beat Margarito easily.

Marquez has never won a fight by DQ.

He lost his first pro bout by DQ.

Nope. Excessive is an objective term. If the ref deems what a figher is doing 'excessive clinching' then he'll enforce the necessary rules. If he doesn't then the fighter isn't doing anything that could be called cheating.

If excessive clinching is happening during a fight, the only party to blame is the referree, under the rules, a fighter who clinches excessively can be penalized by having a point(s) taken away and if it continues it can lead to disqualification.

So, it's all under the discretion of the refereee. I for one would like to see refs enforce more penalties when alot of clinching is going on during a fight. Afterall, the object of the game is to hit each other, not hug each other. Are you listening John Louise, Phony Boy, hehe

Taking a page from the MMA haters. IT IS GAY!!!

But for reals using it like that is such bull****. Its not boxing. The true beauty of it is when you don't clinch and put a boxing clinic. The sweet science at its finest.

Someone posted a video up of it before, where the ref stopped the Marquez fight and the other fighter lost from excessive clinching!

i agree but not if he used it as a tactic and used it excessively. only when he needed to do it.

If it was illegal...Bernard Hopkins wouldve lost half his fights by DQ
