    Roy Jones

Ok everyone here is what the questions of the day for today are. Roy Jones keeps on tampering with the idea of returning. In the last few weeks, months etc he has mentioned returning for heavyweight fights, fighting Clinton Woods again and also getting the winner of the Tarver Johnson rematch.

    1. What do you all think Jones should do and can he make a comeback?

    2. Does Tarver really have his number or was it just a fluke?

    3. Do you feel that he has his legacy cemented in stone or no?

    1. Personally I feel that Jones should stay out of the game and he should not attempt to make a comeback. Jones took two babk to back horrible losses and he was brutalized in the glencoffe fight. If he had lost to Tarver then won a few more fights or something then lost again then maybe it would be viable for him to consider coming back but after the way he lost he should just hang it up.

    2. I think that Tarver has his number. Even though Jones won the first fight Tarver outpunched and outlanded him (So what does that tell you? A gift again from the judges.) He seemed to fight differently against Tarver and he was more tenative and did more leaning against the ropes. He claimed it was the weight loss I dont know maybe it was. The second fight however he returned and had been acclimatized to the weight and Tarver made him watch his own fight. (Roy Jones got knocked across the ring and into the front row of seats and was watching himself in the ring lol)

    3. Hmm difficult one. In the early part of his career Jones would take fights and he would fight big named people and he would take some risk. After the mclellan mishap in Europe Jones claimed that it made him not want to hurt people etc etc. This may be true, however before Jones fought Tarver/Ruiz he hadnt fought any big names since James Toney and before that it was Bernard Hopkins. Everyone else was justa bunch of tomatoe cans. Of course he makes the argument that there was no one in the light heavyweight/super middleweight divisions and this was true but Jones had some big fights still left. I wonder if he has ever heard the word rematch. Hopkins, Toney, Merqui Sosa and tons of others wanted rematches but Jones did not oblige Before the Tarver,Glencoffe and Tuiz fights jones had been fighting people who were retired cops and who boxed part time or guys who worked in the movies half a day and boxed half a day. You cannot make a legacy doing this. And yes he beat John Ruiz so he gets accolade for that but his legacy is seemingly tarnished in my eyes because of the afformentioned. Even though he goes down in history for beating Ruiz

He can come back, he will comeback and he will be sucessful in my opinion. He should fight the winner of Johnson/Tarver.

    2. Does Tarver really have his number or was it just a fluke?

Tarver's tough but I think he did get lucky...

    3. Do you feel that he has his legacy cemented in stone or no?

Yup, just look at his accomplishments on boxrec.com. He was the man.

      1. What do you all think Jones should do and can he make a comeback?

Yes, he can make a comeback but it all depends on how hungry he is. Also, he's like 37 years old now, he's getting older, and his reflexes and speed aren't the same as it used to be and if he does want to make a comeback, right now is the best time.

      2. Does Tarver really have his number or was it just a fluke?

Both. In the first fight, that was the worst performance Roy has ever displayed in the ring. That was due to a combination of his extreme weight loss, his lack of hunger and I think he kinda took Tarver lightly. However, Roy did manage to win the fight barely when he showed his heart at the end of the fight. In the second fight, he was winning the fight, until Tarver tagged him with the most perfect left hand that could've knocked anyone out. If that was the Roy of 2002, he would have seen that punching coming, and beat Tarver easily.

      3. Do you feel that he has his legacy cemented in stone or no?

Die hard Roy fans will say that his legacy is cemented. He has won belts in 4 different weight classes, captured the undisputed lightheavyweight championship, was one of the few that went from a middleweight to capture the heavyweight title and also beat many great fighters of this era eg: Hopkins, Toney.
Haters will say that even though Roy had much talent, he never lived up to his potential because he was never tested. He ducked the fighters that could've tested him, and instead challenged policemen, janitors and other bums.
In other words, there are many ways to look at this. I do believe that Roy is one of the top 5 P4P fighters of all time, but I also do believe that he was slightly overrated.

I think he should take a tune up fight , then go for Tarver or Johnson. I think he can do it if he is motivated to do it.

        2. Does Tarver really have his number or was it just a fluke?
Yes Tarver has his number, even though it was a Lucky ass punch which could be called a fluke, I think it still got in JOnes head, so i do believe Tarver has his number, But I think Jones can win if they fight again. The only way Tarver will win is with another lucky haymaker.

        3. Do you feel that he has his legacy cemented in stone or no?

I do but I dont, I dont like the look of those 2 KOs, If I were Him id try to avenge them then retire.

RJJ was on the radio earlier this week, here in the ATL, he was in town for a golf tourney. He said he was interested in fighting B-Hop, at 175,
          for a 50/50 split.
