i agree all depends on how floyd performs may 1st which will determine who will be the betting fav, i think pac is the closest betting favorite out there right now which is why that fight has to happen everything's just so close one of those guys have to separate themselves from the other one.

Don't get me wrong, Pacquiao has tremendous strengths that would give him a good chance in the fight. Phenomenal speed, power and stamina/workrate. Everyone knows his strengths, but you've gotta give the bigger, more skilled guy the edge.

Mayweather is slightly older but has been hit far less in his career. To be honest, neither has shown any signs of deterioration yet, so that's not a factor. But it could start to be over the next few years, which is why this ****in fight needs to happen soon. No excuses.

To the thread starter, Mayweather has to be the betting favourite against anybody and yes, I think you're right in that he unfairly gets less credit for victories than Pacquiao does. Mayweather beat Hatton and De La Hoya FIRST remember. Also, Mayweather tends to make it look easier by not getting in to wars. People love to hype up punchers as unstoppable monsters i.e. Tyson. But Mayweather is as close to unbeatable as you can get at the moment. The sad fact is that people rate offense way above defense when in fact they're equally as important. He hasn't looked close to losing in a long time and comes away from fights with barely a scratch, leaving people to complain more about how the opponent was bad. And this is a little unfair.

I don't like Mayweather as a person but as a boxer he's close to perfection. So I make him the favourite against any guy right now, in and around his weight class.
He does not have better boxing skills. Floyd has better defensive skills by far than Pacquiao, but Pacquiao has just as big an edge offensively over Floyd. That's why people want to see the fight, it's the best defensive fighter in recent memory against the best offensive fighter in recent memory.

Unless he goes up drastically in weight I think he will be at least a slight favorite in most match-ups

I agree. People may not like Mayweather, but if the fight were signed a week after the Mosley fight, with money on the line people would bet on Mayweather while criticisizing him. He'd be the favorite at pretty much everywhere in a week.

I disagree with you on this. PBF does have better boxing skills than Manny that is just a fact and it takes nothing away from Manny in saying that. Manny is a better offensive fighter right now but to say that the gap between the two of them is just as big in favor of Manny on offense as it is to PBF on defense is just crazy. PBF has one of the highest connect percentages in boxing history so obviously his offense way above average. You have to look at the whole picture my man. Look at PBF offense at 130-135 when he sat down on his punches or how he fought Jesus Chavez and Castillo. Look at how he beat Hatton at his own game with in-fighting to how PBF fights now on his toes boxing and pot-shotting. PBF has a complete offensive game. PBF has beaten people in every possible way offensively to add on top of his great defense.
