The only way fighting in a challengers territory could affect a fighter is if they get a notorius "hometown decsion" from the judges.
+ I've seen biased referee's before too...
But as far as the fighters themselves... It won't affect them at all.Comment

i honestly think hometown is more of a burden than a advantage...cause you have that added pressure of doing well in front of your people....plus you got all those distractions that come with being home before a fight...i always felt less nervous fighting out of town rather thanComment

It only affects some boxers. It only affects the brawlers. What happens if you're Gatti and you go down, you got cuts on your eyes and all of a sudden a 'GATTI! GATTI!' chant rises up. This guy going on heart, he is gonna get the **** up and beat the other guy. For brawlers like Gatti, Corrales, Castillo and yes Hatton, this is exactly what they revel in. Now for someone like Floyd and he hears his name chanting he will probably do a little dance, **** his arm or some **** like that. It will not affect his game, only his ego.Comment

fighting at your home venue would have some effect. Fighting at home would give a small increase in determination to win and satisfy your home crowd. It would also give you slightly more adrenaline. Also the fact it is your home and you have fought there before would make you more comfortable and being more comfortable and relaxed can make you box better
However for top class fighters it woodn;t make that much of a difference.
The main advantage you would get is from the judges and maybe sometimes the ref.Comment

fighting in ur hometown can hurt you or it can help you. before the fight, a lot of pressure is on u and its up to u alone to deal with that. however, during the fight, if u get hurt or ur revving up for a win, the crowd can really start cheering u on and gives u an adrenalin rush, making u stronger, faster, and more aggressive.
the hometown factor really just depends on how u can or cant handle pressure.Comment
