This is the problem with Arum. He is the worst promoter in the sport.

How do you have a valuable commodity like Pavlik, and you have not seen his opponent? I understand that you have Trampler as the matchmaker, but Martinez was in a FOTY just recently and many people were saying that this was a dangerous fight for Pavlik.

Meanwhile, Arum is putting all this energy into getting Margarito back in the ring.

I can't imagine that Oscar, DiBella or Shaw not knowing who their top guy is facing.

This is why this guy is an *******, he either is lying or foolishly admitting that he didn't care either way and doesn't follow the sport at all. There's no way i'd let even a top asset even consider something without being made aware. I find it hard to believe he didn't as somebody or something. The guys a piece of ****, and dare i say a ****** businessman. If his contention is that he didn't know that the guy his 2nd best asset is fighting is a skilled fighter then he's a fool. he's almost out of options here, maragrito isn't back yet and Cotto is fighting an awfully big man for a guy who hasn't had a clear win since he fought jennings for the paper title. I think this Pavlik fight will make it harder to make a fight with Floyd anyway, why would Arum risk manny if thats all he has left as far as big name talent/money makers?

Also no one would make a case to duck the man but had the promoter been even remotely aware maybe considerations could have been made to get assistance to ensure that Pavlik was prepared, i know if i was that loaded and my 2nd biggest earner was going in there i'd be on his ass hire nutritionist and people to watch him and report to me directly about any funny business with booze or whores or whatever.

Arum only cares about Pacquiao. I don't think he gives a crap what happens to his other fighters because he just wants to make a profit off them.
