The Byrdman... I don't know what to make of him

So far all I've seen of him is (apart from a ten second clip of him jiving against Holyfield) is a minute's highlights of the first round of his Vitali bout. (Yeah, guess what I'm doing right now).

His defensive strategies seem particularly ineffective against Big Klit, far less impenetrable than what I'd read. Is this unusual? HOWEVER... he seems to have a punch. Big Klit backs up several times, or is that just his natural disposition?

I think VKLIT just is uncoordinated in there, he backs up a lot in that fight but I don't think it is anything to get worried about, thats just his style...he is an awkward mother****er to say the least. Byrd was a better fighter back then too, he has been in a few fights since then and I think he has slowed down. Vklit on the other hand in my view has improved...however we need to see them fight again for sure.

I gather this was one of Chris's less successful fights?

I like the guy though - how come he's not more popular?

In terms of his style, I mean... obviously I know he won by Vit pulling out.

Byrd does not fight quite like that anymore, at least in my opinion. In his last three fights you can make a case for the other guy in all three fights...this is a big reason why he is not viwed in such high regard. Watch him fight Ike, you'll love his drewl or watch the WKLIT fight, he was beaten up pretty good in both fights.

I'd like to see his style actually be successful... good fight though, towards the end he seemed to be getting the better of things...

His style has been successful. The style that he uses today is quite a bit different from the one he used previous to the Holyfield fight. Really, he was virtually untouchable. The big guys are pretty succesful against him because he likes to lay back against the ropes, or sit back in the center of the ring and do a little pot-shotting. That's useless against a giant like the Klitschkos, because all they have to do is throw light jabs and right hands all night. The best Byrd you'll ever see was the one against Tua.

Sorry, I didn't mean his style hasn't been successful, I meant I'd like to see it personally... I've only seen clips of the Klit fight. Any chance of the Tua fight being uploaded?

Yup, Byrd sure took it to Tua. I thought that Tua would be like Ike at some point in the fight and land a huge shot to end the contest but Byrd was just too slick for him that night.
