Vargas just didn't want to get caught in Oscar's shadow because he wanted to be Fernando Vargas and not the next Oscar De La Hoya.

I think Vargas hated DLH because Vargas fell while doing roadwork and DLH laughed at him rather than helping him up. At least it seemed that way as Vargas kept talking about that story.

DLH had some parade after that and Vargas and his friends threw eggs at it.
