Martinez/Williams rematch: Sergio dominates it easily. My reasoning is.....

Sergio had Paul figured out by the fourth quarter of the fight. He only had two weeks to train and simply ran out of gas against such a busy fighter.

The commentary was unusually spot-on, probably because the commentators had neither guys nuts in their mouths (aside from Mannys "street toughness" comment, wtf). Check out the 6:00 mark. Williams had finally adjusted to Sergio's lead-right, but that left him open. Once Sergio realized Williams had nothing against that wide left, he was landing at will, that is when he had the energy to throw a punch.

He had the tools, but barely had the energy to keep standing, let alone throw a bunch of power shots.

I don't think it will be Mayweather/Castillo II or anything, but I think Sergio has Paul pretty much down, and with a proper training camp will put a spanking on him in a rematch.

    Lets go Sergio

You can look at it both ways though man sure Martinez didn't get the right training but Williams didn't either i believe he was sparring for Pavlik or Cintron? (whoever pulled out on him)

Also based on previous evidence Williams has trouble with Southpaws but once he has been in with them he can adapt, see Quintana. Martinez is alot better then Quintana though..

I believe Martinez would win again though (he won the first imo) but would not dominate easy.

Dominate Williams? NO.. Win a slim decision? MAYBE.. I still think Paul Williams wins. He throws alot of punches from all different angles and doesn't stop punching throughout the fight. Plus he did pretty good in a rematch against Quintana didn't he? We'll see though. It should be a great fight again. And the best thing is it WONT be on PPV

          I disagree. Here's why.

          1. Sergio had the upperhand in the training. He started training before Williams even accepted the fight.

          2. Williams had to switch from training for an orthodox, one dimensional power puncher to a slick, southpaw speedster WEEKS before the fight. That's not easy to do, when your entire camp was focused on the exact opposite type of fighter.

          3. Look at what happened last time Williams took a fight against a slick fighter on weeks notice (Quintana) after a fighter pulled out (Cintron). He got destroyed. But what happened in the rematch, where he got to train a full camp and got some good sparring partners for the bout (Collazo)? He destroyed him in one round. I'm not trying to compare Martinez to Quintana, but you can definitely see the difference in P.Will's performances when he gets to focus on an opponent.

I think Williams will get sparring partners like Lucian Bute for the rematch. He'll be ready for Martinez's slick style, and my prediction is a more clear decision in favor of P.Will. He will be taking some punishment in the process though.

You have to consider that Paul was training for Pavlik. And Martinez is Pavlik's total opposite.

It was a close fight, but Martinez won the fight. He's going to beat him again when they have a rematch.

I disagree. Didn't Paul not prepare for this fight correctly at all? He needs to stop doing that ****. With some right preperation he could pull away in the bout or they will just even it out by Sergio knowing how P-dub fights. We shall see.
