typical hbo commentary. Also did u see emmanuel talk about the 160 division when they asked him about if martinez should drop the belt at 154 and stay at 160? He basically said all the big names are in 154 and even some ww are going up there and thats where the money is and he just grinned saying this. Me as a cotto fan was alarmed is he just there for a paycheck????Comment

Exactly. One clear example of this is a highlight that showed Martinez landing a clean hard straight left hand to the body while Pavlik countered with a weak jab that caught Martinez on the way out. They applauded the weak jab making no mention of Martinez's body shot, and the highlight was in slow motion. I had Pavlik winning rounds 5-7 with 2 of those being real close rounds. Martinez clearly won every other round, yet the way they were calling the fight you'd think that it was close.Comment

Yeah I noticed he says that **** all the ****in time too. He said it in the Cotto-Margarito fight. "Margarito is fighting a very good fight" and it was like 45 seconds into round 1 roflComment

So i stayed up till about 4 in the morning (uk time) to see the fight and what i found ridicolous was Larry merchant saying in other words that Pavlik should of ducked Martinez and took on a Garry Lockett type of defense and these are generally the same people that say Floyd of fought this or that. It's no wonder the sport isnt thriving as much as it should especially when the commentators who should be calling the fight between the middleweight champion and a highly rated contender instead talk about how the champion of the world should of taken an easy defense lol
I remember Emanuel Steward saying that:"they should have never put Gatti in there with Floyd,They should have never put Mayorga in there with Spinks and they should have never put Trinidad in there with Winky"
But yet he claims Floyd does`nt fight tough competition.Comment

I remember there was a moment where Martinez drills Pavlik like 5 times right in the mouth and Pavlik flicks out a weak counter and Lamps yells "BIG RIGHT HAND FROM PAVLIK!!!!" and I'm like "uhmmmmm, what about the 5 shots from Sergio??" lololLast edited by OnePunch; 04-18-2010, 05:26 PM.Comment

I vote for Jeff Van Gundy, Charles Barkley, and umm....WTH Dennis Miller to replace all 3 of them. That would be hysterical. hahahaSo i stayed up till about 4 in the morning (uk time) to see the fight and what i found ridicolous was Larry merchant saying in other words that Pavlik should of ducked Martinez and took on a Garry Lockett type of defense and these are generally the same people that say Floyd of fought this or that. Emmanuel loves the bigger, stronger fighters, either that, or he's too busy trying to look like a genius by predicting what might happen down the road instead of analyzing what's going on in front of him.
I was just watching the Kessler-Andrade fight and he said the exact same thing about Andrade.
"The cavernous atmosphere of this arena is appropriate for the savage brutality on display." I'll pass lol.
Gundy is an eccentric cheerleader and he's not at it or play by play announcer than Lampley. Barkley would be great, I've heard him speak on boxing when it's not even warranted, so that shows he likes it and he's brutally honest which is excellent.Comment
